Lightning Bug

The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.
Mark Twain

I've been having trouble coming up with the right words during a conversation... memory lapses. It is driving me nuts - I couldn't think of Joe Walsh's name, or come up with the word "liberty" - as in the sentence "taking the liberty". All I could think of was "permission", or "honor" - both words not conveying what I wanted to say. I struggled with it for hours. Sure enough, later on in the day, the nagging ended and the offending word popped into my consciousness. Where had it been hiding? My brain just isn't as chipper as it used to be - man, I guess it was one of those "senior" moments. You can't believe how excited I was when I actually did remember... ridiculous.

Naaah, Terry, nothing to do with 'senior' moments (lol) - happens to all of us, often. I get it especially being bi-lingual, I think in different languages and when I want to speak in one, I might think of the word in the other and so on. I'm forever losing my words and as you say the relief at finding them again is pure bliss, and not at all rediculous ;-)

Tracey, GRIN - you got my favorite subject :-) My sportster is another way I have fun. My license plate says FUN4TS. Loud pipes, silver streak - low and fast... yes, I ride. My helmet is mirrored silver. I traded in my black and white horse Mystic Moon (she died boo hoo) for an iron horse - ha ha, can I throw in any more cliches? Riding is a thrill -you should get your own.

My husband swears that's caused by planetary alignment. Says it comes and goes like tides and you can plot it. He could, of course, be getting senile though. LOL

Everytime I forget a word I think, "oh well - I'll remember it when the planets re-align".

Agnes - I absolutely like that explanation better than any other I've heard. I'll use it :-) - who can argue with the planets? It sounds much better than DEMENTIA ha ha

My dream bike was a Fatboy - I saw one and decided that it was the perfect bike. Then one day (I wasn't shopping mind you) I was in the dealership in San Francisco, and they wheeled her out... I heard the music, the light from heaven shown down upon her, and I knew that silver Sporty was THE ONE. It was Valentines Day, 1996. You know, since then, I've been happy with the Sportster - don't crave the Fatboy any more. My husband had a Road King - it was gorgeous. Bikes are awesome.

I've been able to think of the right words but for some reason my mouth doesn't want to form them. I've been stuttering and saying garbled sentences all day. My brain seems to be working quicker than my mouth can keep up.

Terry, my problem is typing. I often type words completely different than what I was trying to say. It actually scares me, since I don't think I ever had this problem before. Funny thing is, what I type is a word, just not one that fits or one I thought I was typing. Where did it come from and why is it in my sentence? I almost want to video tape myself to make sure I'm not imagining this. :-)

Come to think of it, I've only had this problem since Linny stopped visiting my blog. I think I just miss my girl from Atlanta. Linny, come back. Please, I'm sorry for whatever I did. You can have whatever ice cream you want. Love you. Mean it. Let's do lunch babe. LOL

Linny, I think I got the garbled part today... I've been stumbling over my tongue all morning :-(

Man alive Trée, you're too funny, posting mournful cries from everyone's blogs... why, you are world renown!

I have the problem of just typing faster than my brain can think sometimes. Therefore the words I type mean nothing when I re-read them later. Hmm, another message to slow down maybe?
