We found it.
A house in
Reyðarfjörður. Right on the water.
Built in 1905, it is located at the head of the largest fjord in the east coast of Iceland. It is in a town of about 650 inhabitants.
I know it gets very cold in the winter - but with a cozy fire going and someone to snuggle up to under the downey comforter, wouldn't you call that bliss?

It looks so quaint!
Abso*lutely!
Oh boy, I know things are never simple, but then again, they are as simple as we make them, and maybe I shouldn't (probably) but I just want to tell you to go for it. Go for what you want and don't stop til you get it.
Besides, I wouldn't mind spending my hols in a place like that. ;-D
holy shit,
thats a house on the water all right!
(at least the neighbours
wouldnt irritate you!)
hows the shopping?
(giggle)
xo
Sherri - I don't know about quaint... but it does look sturdy! After withstanding one hundred and two years of harsh weather, it doesn't look half bad.
Autumn - see the little guest room by the front door? Looks like room for company :-D Bed and breakfast anyone?
Lisa - remember I'm turning into a hermit too. This looks like the perfect spot. No fence needed. Plenty of grass for the geese.
Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I certainly would love that!
Let's set the date for that visit, I say!
:-)
Oooooooh!!! I love it....do it what a wonderful place, a couple of horses, lots of books and a saeng (down comforter) and you are all set.....wait, wait, you also need a computer so you can share with us :);):)
I think the distance to neighbors looks just about perfect.
Annonymous: Can you expound just a little more?
Ranger Tom - Who wouldn't love this? I have found my dream muse. I go there all the time. I doubt that it will ever really happen. But I do dream.
Autumn - you know you would be our very first house guest. Although we don't get to see each other much - the tie that binds is genuine. I'll have a soft deep feather bed waiting for you - plus the cup of coffee ... I think I heard you prefer it in a white cup with a slightly curled lip...
Mo'a - so grand to hear from you! A saeng? This is a new word for me - although I experienced such a wonderful thrill in person several times where we stayed in Iceland. You bet we'd have such in our cozy hovel :-D
Jeanne - Hi :-) I've missed you - as it has been quiet in Sweden lately. Any closer and I'd have to get out the shotgun.... Have I mentioned I'm becoming more hermit-like every day?
:-)
Terry, I can't tell you how good it was to hear your voice (and G) yesterday! Made me miss you even more (silly really, since we talk almost daily here)! XOXO
I say do it!
Icelandic houses are bulit for endurance. I mena they survive earthquakes and all...
Reyðarfjörður is a nice little place...this house I have seen...didnæt know it was empty though.
Are you seriously thinking of buying a house here?
*anticipation*
Happy Monday!
That looks awesome.
It just yells coziness, doeesn't it!
brrrr, a fire would definately be required.
It would be a dream come true to visit Iceland. Traveling would be a dream come true, period. In the mean time, I enjoy pictures such as these.
Beautiful photos and a lovely country. I hope your dreams come true. :}
Autumn - it was cool to hear your voice after such a break from our trip. But it brought everything right back :-)
Actonbell - OH NO!!!!!! I'm not in the grove yet.... tibbar tibbar... rats, I'll never remember ;-)
Minka - okay, I've always wondered how you became Minka out of Monika... seriously considering moving to Iceland. I just have to figure out the logistics. My love is from Iceland, but although he holds duel citizenship I don't. Logistics. Plus - you have excellent english... ha ha you would stiffle your laughter at my broken Icelandic... :-/
Thanks A - I'm glad it is almost over. Monday is my least of favorites you know :-
:P Fuzz - you think? It is a far (DAMN FAR) cry from Texas... but oh so gloriously unpopulated....
Tai - so nice to see you again :-) You know I love it when you post about your mom. Did you move yet? Sorry, have to pop over and see for myself. Yes, a fire is a given! Cozy against the elements... I've been dreaming of it nonstop since I found it. I'm obsessed actually. But I wonder, do I have the sand to live in the dark, Icelandic night of winter? Am I just a dreamer? (Secretly, I think I'm game. I think I have what it takes. You know I have Danish roots. I even have Nordic eyelids - from my Grandma's side). I want to go right now.
Hi Oliviah :-) Did you know my Grandma's name was Olive? I love your name - it is lovely. Thanks for your comment. Why don't you travel? I think if you don't "just do it", you never will, and you will miss out on life. Do it if you can - make a way if you can. Live now, pay later... is that wrong? Tee hee.... I'm just so glad I've been to Iceland - two whole times! Planning on a return appearance... very soon. Glad you like the pictures - they are but a taste of the beauty and awesome experience of the earth's glory.
Semina - thank you so much for your commment. It was grand to see you here - and I appreciate so much your sentiment. *winks* see you around :-)
I just can't stand to update my blog because I like these pictures so much!!!!
well,
just do 'em again,
on your next post!
(do you think that's ever been
done before in blogland?)
heck, Terry,
you could be a pioneer in all this...!
and we wont call it repetition, no siree,
we'll call it...
re-inforcement,
or re-affirming
or,
i dont know!
little house by the water, maybe...
I missed u too Terry MWAHHH!
beautiful house near the water...how exotic!
Keshi.
Health problems currently hinder travel but thank God for the internet! I travel all over the globe through photography such as these and sometimes, I swear, I can almost breathe the air, taste the waters and touch the skies.
