I think Icleandic landscape is so inspiring, becuase in all its glory it seems so simplified!

Mile Stones - I love whales too. I would never eat one - although that is such a hot topic in Iceland right now. I went whale watching once in Southern Cal off the coast at San Luis Obispo. Loved it - saw some, along with lots of new (to me) birds and dolphins.

MizB - If you can take San Francisco weather in summer (ha ha, CHILLY) - then you can do Iceland :-D You'd love it - although very different culture I'm sure from Spain. You'd be fine, and love it.

A - you said it :-)

Jeanne - I like hobbits too. Wouldn't mind living in one - they are so cozy up against the mountainside. Smart builders.

RT - the grass is always greener on the other side - oops -wrong quote. The grass is only long on the backside - the front looks normal :-)

Gareth - so what is stopping you? Just DO IT! :-) You will be glad you did - and it is so much closer than you think!

Jillie - it is one of the most beautifully breathtaking places I've ever been lucky enough to lay eyes on. The beauty haunts you - once you've seen it in person you can't get it out of your mind. Pictures don't do it justice, although many people do take unbelievable photos... but consider the subject matter.

Have a great weekend too :-)

It looks beautiful but I bet it's strange to have to mow the roof.

That's where the hobbits live. I'm sure of it!!

:p fuzzbox, that is what sheep are for LOL
Terry I love your photos from Iceland...I just realized that I have never posted a photo from Iceland on my site.....what is up with that?
Is this the place where one can stay over night?
There is one such place on the south coast....they had handwoven blankets on the beads, the doors were unlocked and no one atending the place....if you need a place to stay you are welcome was the message....I loved that.

Meg - thanks :-) Hope things are well with you today.

Autumn - sounds like I had a better weekend than you did! Wow - I hope you have arrived at your destination a-okay, with no more mishaps!

:P Fuzzbox- RE: mowing the roof - see Mo'a below. That's the beauty of having a sod roof - it feeds your sheep.

Gareth - The perfect home for Hobbits or people :-) Snug, sturdy - and beautiful.

Mo'a - these houses are at Skaftafell - I don't know where the delightful ones you are talking about are. I was so impressed with the hospitality of all of the Icelanders I met. Wonderful people, wonderful land.
