I just adore a marching band. My son Joe is a new music band director this year at a high school in Tahoe, and he will hold his first Christmas music program next week. I wish I could be there to hear them play "Sleighride". Music by John Phillips Souza makes me get goosebumps - I love Stars and Stripes Forever. On New Years Day, I'm the one up early, huddled on the couch with a blanket, watching the Rose Parade with all the marching bands. I love watching the halftime shows at college football games - although they rarely show them on tv anymore. Marching bands are so fun!

"kinda hard to push a piano and march at the same time" :-)
I just wanted to be the girl at the front in the cute outfit!

Hey you two - good morning/afternoon/evening! Ha ha -I was never into the drill team or flags - those high white boots and short skirts just didn't look right on me :-D

It would have been nice to have been a percussionist or even the glockenspiel (bells, which I actually did play for one year) but noooooo, for some reason my parents made me play accordian - LOL, not your regular band instrument!

My father was a famous ('only' in Asia) accordianist in his youth :-), still plays, love listening. Heard somewhere the saxophone and the accordian are supposed to be the two most expressive instruments. Do you still play?

Oh, and Good morning :-)

I play for my own pleasure, although not as often as in the past. I always go down for the 4th of July parade in Malibu Canyon where the small community has the big parade and picnic. Our motley crew-of-a-band has won the blue ribbon many years over. It IS an expressive instrument - tugs at the heartstrings. I DON'T play too many polkas though - LOL

Marching Band Music. How wonderful. I don't think people give enough credit to those musical marchers and I've never thought the Rose Bowl float builders get enough credit.

I wanna be a flower float builder in my spare time. (Woops..that was a secret. LOL)
