Dawn in the country. I can imagine waking up to this scene - a little stiff from sleeping on the ground in the sleeping bag, chilly, damp air embracing the tip of my nose... Though my eyes are still closed, I can hear the early morning stillness broken by the warbling chirp of a lone robin somewhere across the water, and the unmistakable broken honks and cries of the geese as they fly overhead. The hyena-like raspy calls of the acorn woodpeckers as they climb among the oaks are loud and insistent. I lay quietly, savoring the moment.

Somehow to me it looks like a dawn the viewer has waited for since awakening in darkness, and now, reassured, he/she can lie down and sleep again.

Annon - Ready to follow you anywhere. You are right - change IS scary. But together we are okay whereever we land.

Hey Autumn, this is the place to be :-)

Trace - still one whole day of the weekend left :-) Enjoy it.

Lisa - is this not a place you woul like to awaken to?

Jeanne - Your take on this place is right on, in more ways than one.
I can agree wholeheartedly. I like your phrasing.

Stunning pic and beautiful description. Crisp morning on the lake. Warm cuppa coffee in hand. Mmmm.
I couldn't sit for long though. I'd have to drop a line in that lake. :) Nothing like early morning fishing.

Terry, I looked outside Friday morning and one of our cottonwood trees was filled with woodpeckers. There must have been 10 or more all scurrying about up and down the limbs. Aren't they fascinating little creatures?
Maybe I'll get some piccies before they migrate through.

Happy Monday. :D

In June you will be hearing the screech of the Kria as she protects her nest and the cries of the Gulls as they swoop down on the seas bounty....you lucky girl. This photo is so very beautiful. I hope the rain has stoped in your area....enough is enough.

Wow, that awoke my senses, too! How nice it would be to wake up to that tomorrow rather than my annoying alarm clock! :)
