Good luck! All you need to do is find the one form of exercize, you can do for hours at a time and not get tired or bored :-)
I was being quite serious, even though reading that back it doesn't sound like it :-D

Thomas J Wolfenden said...

Where's the fun in that?

Mo'a said...

Give up snudur....you are serious !!!! I am on the same track, started working with my personal trainer...she is skinny and tough. Well a Viking Woman must try to live up to the immage;o

Agnes said...

Nooooo. Don't do it. Say it isn't sooooo.
(Yeah, I'm a real bad influence when it comes to this particular matter.)

But seriously, set yourself a date when you can have some of "THAT" again. Even if it's just a little. "Never" is not motivating.

Good luck.
Autumn - exactly what exercise is enjoyable for hours (and not get tired or bored).? And no...not even that. I need a nap eventually. LOL

Autumn Storm said...

:-D Keyword: eventually.
Besides that, personally I could walk all day, as long as it's outside and not in a shopping mall. Cycling (real bikes that go somewhere not gym bikes, can't do that for 5 mins before I get bored), but the best ones for me is dancing or step aerobics which is like dancing really.
:-)

God do I want a sticky bun.

Btw, I have the windowsill full of baby asparagus plants. They'll get planted when it's warmer, but we can't eat them for three years. That's okay, because we have other asparagus to plunder in the deserted orchard in the meantime. I love scavanging even more than growing things. No, maybe it's a tie.

Keshi - I'm sorry it is winter there. We are just coming up on summer - my favorite season. I used to like fall best - but now I lean toward summer, BBQs, camping, no-jacket weather. Hence my immediate need to be in shape since actual skin will be exposed!

tsduff said...

Autumn - I'm with you... i.e. finding something I enjoy doing for hours at a time (of course, exercise is a tough one!!!LOL) I love to walk too - but the big hang up is TIME! I just don't have enough free time to devote to such fun. :-(

tsduff said...

Tom - well, you got that right... no fun involved. But it's the PAYOFF I'm looking forward to - no more jiggling when I run :-)

tsduff said...

Mo'a - yes, I'm afraid no more snudur for many moons. I'm beginning to think a skinny nazi barbie personal trainer is really the way to go, since I can't seem to stick to my plan consistently on my own. Grrrr - it's those sadistic workout queens that actually get the job done! I'll put on my viking helmet to help change my thinking :-)

tsduff said...

Agnes - you know that Bear I keep talking about? He loves sweets and cinnamon gooey stuff and CHOCOLATE more than I do, and it's hard to keep it out of the house for any length of time. And he can be so tempting - naps and all...man alive it's a struggle :-D

tsduff said...

Autumn - I could walk all day too - we have this lovely reservoir in the next town (Lafayette) which has a road/trail around it trekking through miles of bluejays, thrushes, killdeers, ducks, cormorants and coots, bullfrogs, water snakes, oaks, bay trees and scrub brush (watch out for the poison oak though - there's tons!) horny toads and bluebelly lizards, but that damn time factor comes into play again. Not nearly enough of it to do any good on the regular exercise front. boo hooo

tsduff said...

Jeanne - you're still alive! I have two asparagus plants which are eons old. One time when my house burned down (1998) some folks from Oaklahoma, who were helping with our refurbishing were so excited to see asparagus growing that they secretly picked all the new spears as they grew! It was quite comical really.

The last 3 nights, the deer have eaten half of our garden - make that 75% of the garden and ALL of the strawberries. They chewed the new foliage on the plum tree, and I am waiting for the next visit in which they will crack off the remaining half of the tree loaded with green plums, which they broke last year. I am also thinking about sitting up tonight with my 357 Ruger...

Ah, I see where you come from, a friend of Mo'a's bless you.

I'll have you know I just walked up to the Cinnabon concession at Sacramento Airport and just ordered an orange juice. Now bless me.

tsduff said...

Doug - you are a paragon of self control. Bless you for your shining example of strength. (and Mo'a rocks)! ummm - Cinnabon.... uh oh, time for some more salad.

tsduff said...

Oh, and some oysters would be awesome :-D

I know Terry...Im a Summer girl too...I find it so hard to wear heavy jackets and cover myself all the time, cos I love to wear sleeveless tops and shorts etc...:(

javajazz said...

man, what a tender subject...
will we never be happy just being ourselves?
(i hear the shouts of "no!") fine, then.
then what if they made cinnamon buns
in the shape of asparagus or lettuce leaves...
would that help?

Autumn Storm said...

That counter of yours is just flying by! Not long now :-)
Morning, hope you have a wonderful day, x

Sherri Sanders said...

Oh, I'm soooo with you on that!! I've been watching what I'm eating and trying to get in more physical activity......

It feels impossible! LOL

It's way too hard to pass up a brownie for veggies.

Tai said...

oooh, I'd rather have asparagus than suger ANY day!

javajazz said...

mmm, i'd rather have sugar, coffee
and chocolate brownies,
than asparagus most days...

tsduff said...

I had asparagus last night - dang it I burned in on the bbq along with the chicken. Bear didn't like Grampa's bbq sauce so the whole thing was a bust. Waaaaggghhhhhhh. I ate the rest of the mess for lunch today. Guess I'll go back to steaming it. But I made it past the chocolate for dessert... and jogged around the block twice this a.m. at 5:30... woo hoo.

Tom & Icy said...

This is a very fine blog you have. Do you know Minka or Monica who lives in Reykjavik and writes the blog Ice Queen ? She comments on Doug's blog a lot.

tsduff said...

Welcome Tom (and icy :-))
I have met Monika through Mo'a's blog http://moaromigboyles.blogspot.com/ - another Icelander. They all seem to be connected (grins).

Yours is a fun site...you have some fabulous graphics on your site - wonder how you do that? (or did the famed Miz Bohemia help you too?)

javajazz said...

is it possible to do a chocolate drizzle
over the steamed asparagus perhaps?
congrats on the early morning jog!

Outdoorsy Girl said...

Terry...this is off topic, but I just feel a calling to tell you how inspirational I find your relationship with your Bear. I don't know your whole story, but I have read several comments you left on blogs (including my own, of course) and from what I have learned, it is absolutely beautiful and just reading about it makes me realize that I am going to have that one day with my true love. ;)

I'm right there with you. I haven't had fast food in so long now. It's hard at first but gets easier. Eat lots of sushi. It's good and good for you.

Thomas J Wolfenden said...

Maybe I shouldn't tell you I had a REAL Philly Cheesestak sandwich yesterday for lunch...

luvwannabefree25 said...

I had a 20 oz. porterhouse steak yesterday, with a loaded baked potato, salad, and a nice glass of wine. Screw getting into shape! It's not fun!
JD ;)

potato chips, homemade chocolate brownies
with pecans, coffee, egg, cinnamon toast,
chicken stir fried in WATER (yuk)
thanks to my DOTTER (diet crazed)
loaded with healthy colourful veggies
on basmati rice and...more coffee...
tho i must say my arthritis has certainly
flared up considerably...could it possibly
be my highly acidic diet laden with
lifeless vitamin sucking non foods?

tsduff said...

Auughggghhhhh, you guys are killing me!!!!!!!

tsduff said...

Lisa, I actually do like asparagus better than chocolate - and mixing them up is not an option. But, all that other tuff....potato chips, homemade chocolate brownies
with pecans, coffee, egg, cinnamon toast, chicken stir fried (in peanut oil, thank you very much) would turn me into the michelin woman...or Stay Puffed, take your pick. Salt is my downfall - and butter. Yum. Didn't make it around the block today - stayed up too late last night playing with clay. sigh. Tomorrow is another day.

tsduff said...

Julie, your comment is deeply appreciated. I showed it to the Bear, and he was amazed. That is part of the joy of this all - is that it is just such a sweet relationship, which just IS. There aren't any trappings of old baggage (since we were the first for each other, way back when... LOL it was just the space between that accumulated). We like the same things, have an agreeable nature toward each other, aspire together toward the same goals,(yesterday he put me down as his Partner for AARP as he waits for me to turn 50 later this year LOLOLOL!) And, it all just happened as we walked down the path of life. Neither one of us had a clue this would be the fate of our early love. I know these things happen, and I pass on that knowledge to you :-)

tsduff said...

Angela - I too have forgone fastfood for a very very long time, and I don't miss it much. (I do still allow nachos from taco bell though, LOL) I am grateful for the fact that my favorite food (sushi) is still on the "okay" list :-) You are part of my inspiration :-)

tsduff said...

Tom, can I just tell you how fabulous that sounds (my mouth is watering) but I've never had a REAL philly cheese steak... only the ones they serve at the chain store, and even then not for ages. Ummmm - keep telling me... it's good that SOMEONE gets to eat good stuff...

tsduff said...

Jeff, I know, I know, I want to pig out and getting into shape sucks rocks. Ummm - steak (Bear calls it "dead cow" but eats it anyway...)and potatoes... pure bliss. But ultimately, I hate being out of shape, and one other motivator other than the obvious (don't like the jiggling when I walk) is that my Bear really deserves to look at better eye candy than he's been getting here lately :-D

tsduff said...

PS Jeff, a person who can just up and "run 7 miles" can eat steak and potatoes all they want... As for me, when I can run around the block more than two times at a stretch, then maybe I'll eat one too! :-D

Kyahgirl said...

Hi tsduff! This is a cute post. (I saw you at Doug's and thought I'd check you out :-)

Funny, I just made a resolution last night to do exactly what you're doing! Good luck.

tsduff said...

Greetings Laura! Thanks for the encouragement. Sometimes I think I screw it all up, and then I get a nice shot in the arm of hope (like yours :-)) which gives me some more momentum to carry on (unlike all of the hecklers around here... LOL) Thanks.

BTW, the flowers on your banner are stunning! I love pictures, and the bright yellow colors just took my breath away. You have a great blog :-).

javajazz said...

who's Clay?

tsduff said...

OMG Lisa you crack me up!!!!!!!!!

Shhh - don't tell Bear

javajazz said...

(wow, thats like old uncle humor or something...)
ya, imagine stir "frying" in nothing...
i told sarah it tasted like...nothing.
like leather, or dead chicken like Bear
might call it...yes, give me oil in my
stir fry please...at my age, i could
use a little lubrication...man, i just
cant stop today! i'm sorry...well
nobody's laffin' at my good jokes,
so they might as well not laugh
at my bad ones, too...!

javajazz said...

ya, that was so lame,
but thank you for not getting angry!
i just couldnt resist.
you do pottery?
thats very cool...
what kind of stuff are you into?

tsduff said...

Gasp, sputter, guffaw... help me I'm choking...

Never tried peanut oil - he does like the scent though...

I can't say I really "do" pottery - but I do play. Just a beginner class... as far as what kind of stuff.. Autumn is still waiting in disbelief as I promise pictures of my kindergarden efforts :-) You know, the kind you bring home to your Mom when you are 6, and she wears it because she loves you? That is what I "do". I actually did take pics but they are in my purse waiting to be developed. Made a sushi platter for my eldest on her 30th bday - along with some small tea cups. No teapot though... LOL I'm not that advanced. I'm working on it.

Lindsey said...

Now I'm wanting cinnamon rolls! ugh..I can't take my eyes off the picture.

This is bad. This is real bad.

javajazz said...

well, that's sweet,
just taking up a creative interest
and immersing yourself in it
no matter what the outcome...
its good for the soul
to play
that way
with clay
(hey hey!)
feel free to share your
"kindergarten" photos...
i'd sure dig seeing them!
sushi platter! cool idea!

from the North Pole

tsduff said...

From the North Pole? I'll stop in to say hi when I'm in Grimsey... I've been told we will earn the name "blue nose"

Happy Friday - how did the job app go?

javajazz said...

yikes, i forgot!
i can hardly make my north pole
jokes when you are the explorer
headed north-er than here!
blue nose, indeed!
(probably chillin' for hot
flashes, though!)

job app was okay,
kind of brave of me,
but its just some dumb job,
because i have no self esteem,
but even applying anywhere
is good for a close to agoraphobic
at this point...
so, one tiny step for mankind here.
if i hadnt chickened out of
being a musician
i might have had a different life.
i'm a goof.
and now, an even older one.
