Did you see the meteor showers? From our camp at the lakes edge, we watched the sky which was screaming with stars high up in the mountains. I haven't seen the milky way in a few years now, and it was spectacular. We let the campfire die down, and before the moon rose to light up the sky too much to see the stars, we watched the meteors stream across the sky. One was so big it looked like a comet, with a shimmering tail that never ended until it had streaked across the entire sky. It was lovely.

I haven't seen a good meteor shower in ages. The last few that were visible here happened on cloudy nights.

Wow Mom - I'm SOOO jealous that I couldn't be there! Elli and I did have a wonderful time with her family though - it was our last hoo-rah before Dena goes off to Georgia to try her luck living on the "other" coast.... Glad to see you made it back safely! :) -Joe

Hi Lisa! I have a lot of fun "reading in" on what all of you guys have to say.... Unfortunately, I don't get to play my trumpet as much as I used to while in school - no more time. Now that I'm a teacher, I have to make others play their instruments! :) - Joe

Oh how that image sets the mood. Ahhhh, now I want to go camping and I want to see stars and the Milky Way. And we haven't even gotten to the food yet! :-)

:-D Gotta say hi to Joe too!

Terry, just love it here, always have from that very first visit, such a dreamy place! Even if you were to say nothing, there's a part of you in each picture you post, taken yourself or chosen. Such a awesome picture, I can only imagine what it must have been like to see this in person. Awesome wouldn't begin to cover it, I'm sure.

Monika - the stars and other heavenly bodies were amazing to watch. The meteor which shimmered and sparkled across the entire night sky was like out of a movie - hard to believe it was the real McCoy!

:P Fuzzbox - It really is a soul-refreshing moment to see those stars in all their glory without the lights of the city, or the clouds obscuring them...

Joe - it wasn't the same without you guys there. boo hoo. Next time you'll make it.

Lisa - you are hilarious! He is a trumpet Savage, isn't he? Don't let him fool you; he plays gigs all the time.

Hey Keshi - do you see the meteor showers all the way down under?

JOJO - I'll call you tomorrow (she says, ~as she ties another string around her finger to remember...~)

Trée - pack up the fam, load up the cranberry yummy stuff you have over there, don't forget the matches and snizzle... and GO! Bring a warm blanket for laying back on to look up at the sky :-)

Autumn, you are so thoughtful; thank you for your reflections. You must get away from the lights of London, and check out the universe above. It is a magical thing to behold.

Hoping today's surgery was all good. HUGS!

We used to live in the country on a farm and I really miss the beauty of the night! That is breath-taking.

T & I - you can take the dog out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the dog... right?

JD - welcome back. The stars are awesome :-)
