Here are a couple of cool alligators
stuck on the walls of Venice...
No, I wasn't drinking!
Whatever meaning they had,
I'll never know.
This was my first early glimpse of the fabulous city of watery canals
and small narrow streets
I was surprised!

Better on the walls then in the water around you. I hope they were not hungry! This post reminds me on my glacial alligators which I had seen in South Iceland.

I hope when those folks don't freak when they step out on their balconies!

Can you imagine someone knocking at your door? "Don't be alarmed miss, but we're going to be attaching some pink alligators to your patio."

I would have been surprised too! Something about this reminds me of those plastic pink flamingos you sometimes see in people's front yards.

I would want to know what the hell is that all about!!!

lol @ oliviah's comment. Maybe they just got back from Florida.

Keshi - you are so right! Love to imagine that Steve Irwin would approve, although I know Bindy would probably appreciate them more than her daddy would have :-)

SOe: Soggy pink alligators is the picture I get.. HA HA - looking colorful in the lovely green waters of the canals... Did you see your glacial crocs in the lagoon in south Iceland? That is one of the most jaw-dropping sites I've ever seen - so incredibly beautiful.

Grappa Jodes - Grappa with or without coffee...

Catnapping: I might have tried to stuff one into my backpack :-)

Oliviah - Good thought - as these folks don't have a front lawn to decorate this is a good at it gets...

Jillie - hey - I think you're on to something :-D Nice idea, sticking them right on the walls, as the metal sticks they use with the flamingos would get rusty in Venice...

They're so cute when they are little baby pets, but they grow so fast!

Ha ha Actonbell... Pink Elephants! LOL Did you know that swifts don't walk about on their weak feet, only coming to ground when they nest... their boomerang shaped wings are well suited for flying, flying, and more flying. I have a huge freeway bridge overpass nearby, where they come in the spring... I open the sunroof in the car to hear and see them chirping & flying as I drive past. When we were in Italy a few weeks ago, the first thing I heard in the morning out the wide-open little hotel window (in the heart of Rome mind you) was the loud chirping of the swifts in flight as they wheeled, banked and dipped above the alley.

My Utopia: Welcome. And LOL - I don't know about Austin... my boss is there right now! (I had to make arrangements for his flight today... how's the weather down there today.. a bit soggy?) I think you can expect to find weird things everywhere you go - just keep your eyes peeled :-D

Angela - HA HA!! Love your comment... indeed! Definitely not what I had imagined I'd see in Venice... but hey, it was a great sight to see, yes?

Oliviah - I'm putting a few pieces of lava in the mail today... one is from Mt. Vesuvius, Italy, and the other is from my favorite place in Iceland: Eldfell on the island of Heimaey off the southern coast of Iceland. I picked up several pieces when I was there last summer... it is the newest earth I've ever stood on as it erupted in 1973.

Icy, that was pretty funny.

It shows the difference between American and European culture. We keep out giant wall-crawling alligators in.

Icy - Little baby anythings are cute... not so with what they often grow up into!

Doug - yes, there are alligators in the bathtubs of America (mostly Florida - LOL) rather than in the canals of Venice...

let's just hope this "fad" doesn't catch on in Florida. they really do have enough pink plastic crap down there, pretty sure folks don't need anything new to cheapen up the looks of their front lawns. yikes!

that picture is pretty damn funny, Terry. ; ) xox
