Al principio fue el notario,
polvoriento y sin prisa,
que inventó el inventario.
polvoriento y sin prisa,
que inventó el inventario.
—Nicolás Guillén, El diario que a diario
In the beginning was the notary,
dust-covered and in no hurry,
inventor of the inventory.
Tomorrow I will be taking my notary renewal exam - ugh. All day beginning at 7:30 a.m. comes the 6 hour required course, fingerprinting, and photo op.
Then.. the dreaded exam.
Rats.... I hate tests.

I had to look up what a "Notary" is! I think it might be what we call a Justice of the Peace. Good luck, that's a very long exam! BLECH!
Oooh! You be a funkified notary? Faboo!
As for the test, much luck amiga mia! May the sunny weather inspire a speedy and excellent test...
Besos!
You'll do great! Just remember to breathe.
Best of luck!
Keshi.
Ha ha Anonymous...a Justice of the Peace marries folks. I don't do that - a Notary basically verifies that a document is signed by a person is who he/she says they are. There are a few rules, but that's the gist of it.
BOHEMIA! I feel the stress melt away with your sunny wishes. I LOVE it when you say Besos :) Thanks my sweet friend.
Red Mojo - ah - such great advice. I forget to do that alot (you know, throat seizes up, eyes roll back - blood leaves the brain...) I shall try to keep that in the forefront of my thoughts. ;)
Keshi - Thanks hon.
Would you stop your too cool for the room Terry Bear..now move up here!
GOOD LUCK!!!
Fingerprints?? You guys do take it serious. Don't sleep at the course! Break a leg!
All the best.
Dice el fundador de naciones a el notario: "Tu es el pedro sobre que hago mi Iglesia."
All that man hath, he owes to a Notary.
¡Bueno Suerte!
Wow! That sounds so important. You are awesome!
Six Hours??
That picture is scary. Such a big table for one person...you will do great. :)
yeesh, sounds not very fun at all. good luck with it though!
Well, if the test is anything like in the picture, you get to have a glass of wine!
All the best!
In TEXAS , all you have to do is pay a 20-30 dollar fee to the state, buy your stamp and book and bond--and you are in business---may explain the enron mess.Know you will do just fine. Peace Always
Sister Celtic - you know I would in a cotton-pickin minute if I had the means.
SOe - Thanks. I REALLY needed it.
Ariel - Personally, I think it is overrated. Yep - if I have any skeletons in the closet, the FBI will find them for sure.
Lone Grey Squirrel - Thanks - you're the best. How's that back?
Doug- Such a modest show off you are in any language. I thank you.
Tom & Icy - Sounds important, but really it isn't. My boss, the Secretary of State is important.
Galen - I was there eleven hours... can you believe that are so unorganized and went so overtime? Man.
McRaven - I'm just glad it is over... unless I didn't pass and have to retake the _()&(**^*()_*( thing.
Lime: Let's see - what part of Notary says "fun"? You have that right. It was more likely called, "the absence of fun where all the fun is sucked out of your entire being"...
Ah Tai - Always such the optimist :) If those pruney-bunned proctors had any wine they kept it for themselves. I brought my own water bottle :D
Anonymous - you are my hero. When do we move to Texas?
So it's all over now? Our Justice of the Peace do two jobs rolled into one then ... ;)
What else does he do Anonymous? Mostly in US these guys hang out at the city hall, just waiting to marry folks. I have no idea what the heck else they do....
Texas ? well i guess i could handle Austin , would get season tickets to austin city limits concert series :-)
My own sweet Anon - is farming on your agenda? Bbq, horseback riding, pickup trucks... ready?
So how did you do? You aced the test...right. I am sure you are glad it is over :)
