So, I got fired today. Okay, laid off. They called it downsizing. At least it wasn't due to blogging at work... I've been good.

Helluvah way to get a vacation.

yikes! that's rather shocking.
i got scared when i read
the first part! (only you
could get away with
making it rather humourous!)
it may seem kind of scary,
but it will open new doors for you.
i've often felt you were meant to be
in an environment that suited
your creativity more.
so its hard to be mad at those
fools for letting you go.

I'm so sorry. Losing your job when you aren't expecting it is hard, even if it is a blessing in disguise. *Hugs*

Sorry to hear of your job's demise. Lousy way to have a vacation but who knows what is next on the horizon for you.
Hang in there.

Well sh*t! That's no fair!

Here's hoping that it's the best thing that ever happened to you. Being laid off is not an enviable position, but it is loaded with potential.

I happen to know a very, very cheap bean soup recipe. Just sayin', if you hafta cut back on food and all.

holy shit!..that sucks.
even if you don't care, that's still awful...well, go buy a great new book and enjoy your new reading time.

I´m sorry to hear that. Just come over to Iceland and take a job here!

That's a shocker without any fore-warnings.

Awww, sorry to hear! Just what TLP said, hope it's the beginnig of something good.

The picture with the caption is very funny, though. Just sayin'. :)

That's a real kick in the pants.
If you're looking for a major change come up here to Canada and we'll find something suitable.

or.... care to share expenses for a trip to the motherland Iceland? I'm pinning for the fjords.

Sorry to hear they laid you off. There is a lot of that going around. But you will survive and find something new.

I am so sorry to hear that. Perhaps it is time to make a decision to move to Iceland...the Krona is down so you get more for the Dollar now 90.5 last time I looked.
When one door closes another opens. Good luck.

Awww, sorry to hear about your job loss Terry. Hey, just think of it this way, they're the losers in this, not you. You are still a winner in our book. :-) :-*

Well, at least it's not your fault. And as irresistable as you are, someone else will snap you up in no time.

I, by the way, am 5'3 3/4", and my bear equivilant is about 6'5".

But I am sorry if you are.

About your job, that is. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night, and it's starting to show :)

Thanks Doug. Kind of a drag, but I'm dealing with it. Sort of.

Lisa - I'm happy to read what you said. Wouldn't it be awesome to have a job I actually liked doing? One where the corporate heads aren't so full of themselves for a change. I'm halfway there. Now I just need to find the right door.

Red Mojo - Yes, I'm looking for that blessing. But I know that good things come to those that wait :). Unexpected? Yes. But the hard part is mostly over - the actual part where they tell you "we are going to terminate you"... if it hadn't been such a scary surprise, I would have laughed out loud right in front of them - I was picturing Arnold S. saying it... ha ha ha.

Anonymous - What on earth would I do without you? xoxo

Photowannabe - Yes, not the type of vacation I had planned. And now it feels rather guilty to plan a vacation while I'm on the dole...Well, who knows when I'll have another chance.

JJ - My Bear is the one who coined the phrase "question authority" ;) And then he taught me.

TLP - Friends don't send friends Bean Soup recipes with no beans in them... I'm cheap but not THAT cheap. Besides - you are the one who said retirement is the bomb... *she says, as she mournfully eyes her measily savings*... well, guess I'm not quite there yet.

Yellowdog Granny - I like your advice. Think I'll read that Shack book when you are done with it. Right now I'm reading "Stickman" an oldie by Seth Pfefferle.

SOe - so, are there any openings in the cement business where you work? :) I could be persuaded... how's your Icelandic? (Mine is terrible).

Tom & Icy - yes, it was a shock. I'm actually still in shock. I'm not unhappy particularly, just really discombobulated. What will I do on Monday morning when it is time to go to work?

Ariel the Thief - I thought the caption was hilarious - and I felt just fine posting it because I have been such a good girl not blogging at work (yeah, for all the good it did me...)

Lime - just think of all that free time I'll have now - got time to give me some tie dye lessons? I still envy your talent. When the Bear and I tried our hand at it... well, lets just say a lot of them turned into car-washing rags.

Thanks Sal - We love beans and hotdogs - especially hotdogs. How many days did it take you to drive home to Wyoming? We will bring the fixings.

Vikingisson - Ha ha - I'm pining for the fjords too, and the lava fields and the sweeping view atop Esja... along with the smoked lamb, pylsa and Brennivin... ahhhh. Canada sounds nice too - I've never been. The Kronur has devalued quite a bit so foreigners have it a bit easier.

Dr. John - Your stoic assurance is just what I needed. It is tough - I hear about more folks losing their jobs every day. I was just counting my blessings at being employed... because I need the $$. But truly, I did not like that job, and I'm glad to be shut of it.

Mo'a - we look at Hablis everyday... mostly at summerhus offerings just outside of town Much cheaper. The market here isn't that great, and I would be loathe to sell my Grandma's house where we currently live... but hey. It could happen...:)

Will - no, never have been. I was trying to hear that sound (you know, the one the Million Dollar Man makes when he runs...) Thanks for the kind words :)

Jeanne - Not if I snap first...Wow! Shrimpy gals rule - I love tall and short matches. So dramatic :) Bears are blessings.

Jeanne - I'm not sorry - just a bit panicked. Being unemployed terrifies me.

I didn't get much sleep either - for the past two nights. Waking up at 2:30am and not being able to fall back to sleep... those voices in my head are clamoring to loudly... is not cool Have you tried counting sheep?

javajazz said...

hmm, it looks as if
the right door found you!
take your time,
leave panic at home,
and maybe wander about
the town one day,
and see what's cookin' out there.
you never know....!
besides, doing something you love
is very good for one's health...
have faith,
things will shift in your favour.
seems as if they already have.

My Icelandic is still non existent! I can read a bit but not speaking or understanding. My boss is learning German now :-)
