“See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...we need silence to be able to touch souls.”

I do get very tired sitting there watching the grass grow. Listen very carefully and you might hear your hair growing.

Tom & Icy - I never get tired of watching the grass grow... it is one of my favorite past times. I seem to be doing it alot of late.

DJ Kirkby - There is a lot of comfort in those words for me... although sometimes I need some other noise such as the wind in the trees, or the whisper of the river rushing by...

Yellowdog Granny - Well said. The world is ours to worship in. Some parts delight our souls more than others. I took this picture a few days ago in the parking lot of Trader Joe's. An oasis of grass in a field of asphalt. Oh - making the stew now.

Dijea - Welcome, and thank you. It stopped me in my tracks - I was grateful that I had my camera with me. I love the sunlight in the grass.

Dr. John - I like mention of nature - the earth's beauties and the stars & moon too - by one who was known for her goodness.

Northern Musings- Also there is nothing wrong with a good cup of red to listen to the silence by. :)

Cat - You can make anything look like bird feathers :D Maybe that is why I love your art so much.

LOL @Tom!

Yeah, when they talk too much, they always want something from you.

That's probably why corn has ears ... so it can listen to humans as they create all that noise around them and so they are thankful that they can at least grow without creating even more noise pollution in the world ;-)

If only I could get silence from my students.

What an awesome photo! It looks like it is all icy and cold out, but maybe it's just the texture on the grass from being so close! Lovely lovely!

Ariel - I don't mind the talkers... actually there are some who (like the donkey) like to hear themselves speak, and want nothing at all from anyone else ;)

French Fancy - It was very nice hearing from you :) You French have a wonderful accent(even those of you from London)

Kingcover - Hear Hear!! (get it?) There is very little to cherish as much as the wonder of the quiet... I slam my door in massive frustration at the leaf blowers, dump trucks, chain saws and nearby freeway noise pollution.

Fred - The day you get silence from your students is a sad one indeed - because that would mean either they were
1. dead
2. deaf
3. imaginary (as in, you don't have a job)
I know the feeling though :)

Anonymous - do you mind telling me why you are out there in the pouring rain, lighting a fire in the garden firepit, under adverse conditions... I know I know, it is hard to come to the truth of the matter that summer is gone, garden fires are out of season, and I'm cozy and settled in at the kitchen table blogging... LOL

Actonbell - Thanks dear, to one of the KEY blue voting states... (DID YOU HEAR ME?)

Javajazz... Yes thank you - am feeling a bit better (check out the post above ha ha) but seriously, yes also my Bear is back. Was an extremely tough week. Nature is my panacea in most ways, except that eternal dilemma, THE PAYCHECK. Do hermits ever make any money? xo

Mr. Knowitall... Galen, of course it counts... AND you get EXTRA CREDIT as well! From one enjoyerofgoodfoodandHDs to another... thanks for dropping by.

Kelly - ha ha ha ha no ice, no cold...it is only in the parking lot of my local Trader Joe's market in downtown Walnut Creek. I love grasses and their beautiful textures. The picture was so pretty I horrified at first when I wanted to take a picture but thought I had forgotten my camera; to my delight I then went in my trunk and found my camera!

Of course silence without music wouldn't be much.
