We were recently visiting the most beautiful place in the Northwest... Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. The damp forest was filled with bird song, and the moss grew thickly & greenly underfoot and on the trees. The picture doesn't capture the lovely piney yet earthy smell as we walked on the spongy duff beneath our feet.
This is the road I wish I was on now. I can almost just see around the bend...

Whatever road we are on we can never really see around the bend but sometimes it seems clearer than others.
I loved the picture
I love this area of the world too.
You gotta be somewhere else?
one of my oldest blogging friends(known the longest, not the oldest) lives on ana cortes and sends me pictures all the time and it's just the most beautiful place ever..
Think I'd like to take a long walk. Great picture I can steal!
Beautiful photo. I can very much picture everything you tell about, the sounds and the smell and all.
Sometimes the fun is not knowing what's around the corner.
My kind of picture, as you know.
Duff on duff?
IOU a letter.
Your commentary along with this photo made me want to be there on that road right now. I can almost smell that piney earthy smell you described.
Heeheehee, I was gonna mention the "Duff on duff" thing to, hahahaha. I have a small patch of woods near my house with pine trees. When I walk thru there I smell that lovely piney smell too. Very refreshing, pleasant, rejuvenating. and the trees are are good spirits to commune with. :-)
I wish I was there too! It looks so inviting, I can see why you wish you were there.
Compared to where I live, it looks really lush and green. Upstate New York, where most of my relatives live, looks like a jungle by compare to my home.
TREES, TREES, real TREES!!! I´m sure I just fell in love with this place!
Beautiful place. I wish I was there too.
Thanks for your comment on my blog! And I'm looking forward to seeing the San Juans as I will be moving to the Seattle area (probably) next year :)
I got to spend the entire summer of 2007 in Friday Harbor and I still long to return. OC teaches a summer course at the Friday Harbor Labs (UW)every other year.
