No, I haven't quit blogging nor fallen off the face of the Earth, although believe me, it sure feels like it sometimes. This past week we have been sitting vigil at the hospital bedside of our dear friend Ernest. He is my "Most Unforgettable Character"... still working full time at nearly 80 years old and going strong until this terrible car accident which left him nearly paralyzed with a broken back, broken neck, shook-up brains and fighting pneumonia. Anyway, to make a long story short - there is some relief in the picture as today; he actually walked a step or two. Miracles still do happen Mabel...
We finally felt as though we could leave him yesterday for the first time in over a week - and after driving all day we came home and collapsed. Unfortunately, seems like my Bear caught THE FLU BUG FROM HELL and is upstairs with his tummy turned inside out all day today :(
For those of you that were aware - I thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. They worked a miracle. Ernest has a ways yet to go, but he is a man like no other and if anyone can pull off this recovery, he can.
Life is short - don't forget the magic.

Very well said. You are always in our thoughts.
I came over when I saw the photo and thought 'what a beautiful man!'
Thinking of you all and hoping the poorly ones continue on the mend and that you don't catch the dreaded lurgy.
Best wishes for your friend and your bear! I hope they will soon be well again!
Hope all recover soon...
God Bless...G
We rejoice in the good news and join to pray for a full recovery.
Amazing that he looks just how I pictured him. Wonderful to hear he is up and walking, even. A step or two is enough for now. :) With all the love from his friends he has the strength of many. Be well soon, Ernest!
what a joyous picture of your friend. prayers for his continued recovery and very gentle hugs for you both.
Tom & Icy - That makes me feel good. Thanks.
DJ Kirkby: That picture is a typical (and recent) capture of Ernest - smiling, funny, optimistic and usually joyous, filled with nothing but thinking of ways of giving help to others in need. I do hope to avoid Typhoid Mary but it might be tough since there is no one around to wash the uh, throw up bowl but muah.
SOe - Thanks dear - at least we don't have the ice and snow you have to contend with :) Your pictures are beautiful.
~GKW - SO nice to hear from you! Happy New Year and I hope all is well with you and all of your girls ;)
Lone Grey Squirrel - seeing your cheerful squirrel in the comments is an instant cheer up. Thank you for your good thoughts and prayers - they are working.
Ariel the Thief - Your words lifted me right up. He is much beloved to many many people whom he has helped over the years. I know he will get well with so many good thoughts. Plus, he is a Portuguese with a strong will :)
Thanks Lime - I will pass on the best wishes you send. Thanks for the hugs.
candles lit..prayers sent...it's what i do.
If Ernest can walk, Bear can darn sure hold down supper. A good recovery.
Hope your friend recovers fullly.
Good to see you still writing!
That is amazing to be almost 80 and then get into a terrible accident that one has to heal through. Wishing you all healing vibes. So nice that he has a good friend in you, sounds like it is mutual and I agree; don't forget the magic!
Amen...Prayers continue for all.
magic happens,XoXo Bear
Yellowdog Granny - Nobody - I mean NOBODY does it better. Thank you from the bottom of my heart xo
Doug - Nothing like the curmudgeon's own brand of best wishes. I think they did the trick.
Ranger Tom - Hallelujah! What fun to see your particularly expressive moniker back in the blogging world. You have been missed.
Tammy Lee - Thank you for your visit and your good wishes. And thank you for the wider door which I found left open at your place. Where on earth do you find the time to visit random bloggers... you are wonderful.
Sister Celtic - Thank you for your prayers - I am humbled by them, and I know Ernest is reaping the rewards. Also, most sincere congratulations on the fabulous event at Friday Harbor last night... it was rightly deserved and I applaud you and your G. xoxo
Anonymous - You have showed it to me xo
An amazing friend and your vigil helped too. Good friends and prayer. A terrific combination. Hope Bear recovers soon too. The Flu is the pits.
what an impressive character...I just love the picture of him. a BETTER TOMORROW TO ALL THREE OF YOU :)
Having been in the same circumstance for the same reason as your friend Ernest, I applaud his blooming recovery and hope your bear does as well.
Rabbit rabbit to you, Bear and Ernest.
The magic does keep me going most days. I've finally had some time to visit your site and I'll put it into my "feeds" looks like I'll be a regular.
I don't even understand how he could possibly walk with the broken back and neck! It is inspiring to know about people like Ernest, and the inspiring people who support them.
