I think it is pretty terrible that I've been away from blogging so long - I feel badly but truly I just haven't had a moment. We have been gone from our normal routine for the past month (Florida, Eureka, Reno, plus house guests still)... I miss my blog and long for the old days at work (now I don't work so it is so different :) )
This is a picture of my favorite place on the earth. It is a painting which was done by a friend of the family... Grandma Gully has it in her living room and it is a very large painting. I took a picture of it, and now I have my very own miniature. Sorry I don't know the artist's name, but you may take this as a simple swatch of the beautiful countryside of Iceland. Ahhhhhhh.

That's one of those pictures it is nice to sit and stare at for a long time, but it would be even nicer to be there in person. Beautiful.
The view in that painting is quite amazing.
Beautiful indeed. And at first I thought that's where cowboys ride their horses. :)
About ten minutes before I entered your blog I was casting about in my mind for a prompt to write on and saw a scene very similar to the painting. Interesting Terry, I'll have to see what comes of it.
"Good times when they get here,
Short time til they are gone"
-Jerry Jeff Walker from The Ballad of Curly and Lil We're always glad to see you home. Roll on.
You are out having lots of fun and will have loads of stories to tell us.
Mmmmm,Home...XoXo
Tom & Icy - if you were there in person, you would be unable to close your eyes in wonder and amazement. The sheer raw open beauty takes your breath away.
DJ Kirby - I can testify that the view is indeed amazing. Some folks are lucky enough to live there. *sigh*
Ariel the Thief - ha ha, once when we were there we sat around at a big family reunion with the other Icelanders, toasting with tall beers and singing a song about Icelandic cowboys. I've never seen one, but I'm sure they exist.
Walking Man - there is no finer scenery for inspiration. This is pure essence of creation.
Doug, you shore have us pegged. "Making home brew and cooking steaks
Wear your old clothes and drive those old country roads"
Tried to make Oakland yesterday but nothing doing.
Nessa - If this is Saturday we must be home. :) For now. It gets confusing.
Anonymous - What were you saying about that banana? xo
That's a stunning painting. You ought to have it blown up for your wall too. Don't know how kosher that is but then you could enjoy it too.
Glad to see you back. Have missed your comments. I guess its suppose to rain again tomorrow. I hope it doesn't damage the blossoms too much. the plums are so good , I hope they have half a chance.
Hope you get a breather soon.
what a lovely painting made all the more special by knowing the artist. i'm glad you shared it.
