A few bloggers - A.K.A as Dawg, Penguin, Bear and Crow met up in San Francisco - coming together from many different directions to have a whirlwind tour of the area.

There was a ride up the cable car, a trip down the curviest road in the world (Lombard Street) and a traipse out onto the Golden Gate Bridge where one overjoyed penguin left her fingerprint on the rusty red colored railing of the famous structure.

With an occasional sprinkling by the threatening grey clouds, the friends also visited the great redwood forest called Muir Woods, so named after the naturalist John Muir. Much mud was squelched through and worn home on shoes and pant-legs.

The grand finale was dipping our feet (some were more adventurous than others) into the stormy surf of the Pacific Ocean at Muir Beach.

At the last stop of the cable car, a walk along the famous Fisherman's Wharf was in order. After perusing the large population of sea lions who have actually permanently taken over the docks at Pier 39, the motley crew stopped into a local sea shanty eatery where clam chowder (yes, served in the fine San Franciscan tradition inside a sour dough bowl), fish & chips, fried clams and BBQ ribs were devoured with great satisfaction.

A fine time was had by all.

Looks like a glorious time in my favorite City. Think I will have to do the 2 hour drive down (if the traffic cooperates)and get my S.F. fix soon.

How wonderful to hear that you all got together.
So the Penguin is in the States and I will be in Iceland in a week and a half...I wonder if she will be back?

I can still taste the sourdough bread even though it's been thirty years since I've seen the bay.

Great story, friends, pics, and food. We owe so much to Muir and his fellow activists.

Anonymous - it was, wasn't it? xo

Tom & Icy - Pure joy ;)

Photowannabe - It is really a blast when you go through the shenanigans of actually getting to the City:) We actually jumped on the BART last night to go to a cousin's art show downtown SF, and we had a wonderful time.

JJ - Yes - and those dogs were tired! Still covered in the mud from the forest floor.

Mo'a - I only saw her whilst she was here - not sure of the rest of her itinerary in the US. I wish WE were going to be in Iceland LOL!

SOe - On your next trip to the states you should go the West Coast and we will give you the whirlwind tour of San Francisco :)

Doug - Like a virtual reinactment... Cranberry juice? Heck no, that was your Shirley Temple :)

Nessa- The day was filled with good things at every turn. It made wonderful memories - lots of them.

Actonbell - Ha ha - our most "excellent" tour leader was the girl from Iceland herself! Who'd a thunk it? All she needed was her stick with an Icelandic flag on the end as we walked the tourist path through the redwoods - she had everything down pat.

Lime - Yes, bloggy meet-ups are the best. And they keep getting better with each new time. I loved reading about yours - what a kick.

Yellowdog Granny - We would love to get together with Mojo - if she could handle a couple of old hippies for a spell. We long to hang out in the Haight.

Walking Man - It is certain special things that make up the wealth of memories past... the more you see the more you have. I want to make some more!

Crow - You would love it there. So many of our "friends" around - we saw a couple of Ravens at the beach just feeling right at home (ha ha, they were home) It is a worthy Bucket List destination for sure.

Well Ms Anonymous-I-know-who-you-are...your place is as good as any to tool around with blogger friends - I know a better hostess cannot be found :) miss youxo

Dr John - A good time can be had even with the mud. It is like the sand carried home in one's bathing suit and towel after a fun day at the beach - reminders of time well spent.

Javajazz - That was doctored cranberry juice...

Jamie Dawn - Yes, yummy, and something to add inches to the ole bohunkus.

Weirsdo- We sure could have all used Annie's Vette instead our cramped little Honda.

Ariel the Thief - Did you see our toast to our missing comrade? Muir Beach was wet and wild.

EcoRover - You nailed it - We will never be able to repay John Muir for the inroads he laid to the preservation of our beautiful places.
