I love the desert, and I love blue eggs. These are Cactus Wren eggs. Just a blast of warmth on this chilled November day.

Go on, you can admit it - they were really white eggs and you just got out your marker pen and coloured them!!

p.s. next time can you draw little faces on them? Thanks :D

Oh I miss California so much. I'd swop northern lights for blue Californian skies any day, really.

Gareth - how did you get on to me? I thought I was so slick. You really have a thing about faces, yes? :-D

Annie - Our skies aren't always blue here in California... but they are nice. I'm hooked on Iceland though.

Terry, you show me so many things here that I have never seen in person, much thanks for that, it's wonderful. This picture is wonderful! :)

Pretty picture...the desert is so amazing and full of life. Kind of ironic. People look at it and it almost resembles death because you don't see life. But once you are there actually walking around there are a lot of pretty things to find. I love the wild flowers in the spring.

For a second I thought you were contemplating eating the eggs! What with desert and eggs following each other. I was scared!

That is awesome. It is sort of like Easter in November.

Autumn - some folks couldn't care less about stuff I post here - but I'm glad you like it. I just have a thing about blue eggs - like robin's eggs. Did you ever read the Littlest Angel ? His gift to the Christ child contained a sky blue egg.

Jillie - the desert is alive indeed. At night and even during the day - just not in the sense we are used to, the wildlife abounds. It's sparseness just makes it that much more precious when you do see a creature dash by, or hear the sweet song of the California Thrasher, or smell the sweet sagebrush in bloom.

Minka - you are so funny! Desert and dessert have similar spellings, but oh so far different meanings! I once fried my cockatiel hen's tiny infertile eggs, put them in the middle of a huge plain plate, and called it art. Not so interested in eating them though - LOL, although a quail egg yolk on ikura sushi is delicious.

:P Fuzzbox - I like that. Nice thought.

How beautiful! I took a nest (that looks a lot like this one) that got knocked off one hurricane season here and stuck it in the oven on a low temp (long enough to kill any possible contagious bugs) and then put a delicate porcelain baby bird nesting in it. I have had it for about 8 years and it looks so real and sweet.

I've missed you. I'm trying to start blog visiting again. Happy Saturday!!!!!!!
