Just thinking about the cold: Here is a picture of the runway landing strip at the airport at Heimaey Island off the southern coast of Iceland. They don't usually get snow out there - but hey, how about that drop off??

Holy crap!!! I don't think I want to land on that runway....I am sure it would have to be a little nerve wrecking for the pilot as well....no drinky for him!
jillie...My first response was going to be: "Donæt worry, icelandic pilots are not known for extensive lubriction!" but it´s too late for that :)
That is a picture that reflects how we feel about life sometimes. If you're not careful...
Doug, We actually saw that airport - but we arrived by ferry. When we were exploring, we never saw that view of the drop-off... that first step is a doozy!
Jillie - no drinky is right! Sheesh - I get woozy just imagining trying to land a plane there...sober!
Minka - yes, leave the Brennivin for the passengers who will need it as they look out the window upon landing...
