Something tells me I'll be relishing that fabulous fish dinner I've been dreaming about soon...
That is unless Dad decides to keep his giant BIRTHDAY halibut catch all to himself...
Come on Dad, you promised that a neatly plastic wrapped, dry-iced piece of Alaskan halibut would be crossing my doorstep if you got lucky...
Well?

wow, is that a real fish?
(sorry, i dont get out much.)
its got such a nice pattern
on its skin...
not sure what looks more beautiful,
that fishy
or the look on your dad's face!
I just LOVE halibut but since I am allergic to fish and seafood, I cannot eat it so if dad sends your piece to me by mistake I'll be sure to send it on to you...lol!!
Hope you enjoy your fish...mmmm good!!
xo
BTW...that is a GREAT picture!! And happy belated birthday to your dad!
Oy... I hope it's ok if my mouth isn't watering? Veggie head and all here!
But happy happy to your dad and what a great picture indeed!
:-)
wow! what a catch!...I have never seen a fish like that!
Not that we get many in our parts... t5he sea is so far off from my place..
How are you Terry? As usual I see so many colors & breathtaking views out here! :)
Lovely picture terry!
Nice post.
I looooove halibut...in my family we like halibut soup.
I hope your Dad will send you some :)
Not one "fishing for the halibut" joke yet?
that fish looks AWESOME!
Keshi.
javajazz: LOL, to your "is that fish real?" :D
halibut looks scary :(
i know, i'm a little weird but i dont like fish....
haha :P
Good night! That thing is bigger than my head! Wow!!!!!
Anne- I had to run out and get some salmon for dinner after reading that! Would LOVE to move on up to the beautiful part of the world...!
Annonymous - Sweetie. xo
JJ - Yes, one real fish. Dad doesn't like rubber. I'm still waiting for my chunk!
Hey Jillie - yes, please forward said goodies directly to me (my condolences - how can ANYONE survive no seafood?)
Miz B - you make me laugh!! Well, fish are beautiful, whether you actually eat them or not. (I love to eat them too)!
Mona -Thanks for your comments. I'm sorry you live far from the sea - I hope at least you have been to visit it. I actually live fairly close to the San Francisco coast, I don't actually get or make the time to spend time at the beach, even though I love it so.
ebezp: Hi there - okay - please enlighten me as to your avatar - it always makes me wonder if you are a great warrior chief in the jungle, or some obscure tribe in Australia... or did it just tickle your fancy?
Mo'a - I assume halibut soup is much like the cod soup... in white sauce with potatoes etc. Yum!!!!! I had the best fish soup (stew) the last time I was in Hafnarfjordur... ahhhhhhh.
Doug - Just for the "halibut", I was waiting for you to crack that joke.
Keshi - It DOES look cool... now where's my piece?
Magdeline-Sohpie- Yes, Lisa does get eyes filled with wonder at the most simple things LOL!
Not to worry that you don't like fish - that leaves more for the rest of us :-) Halibut do look weird, because their eye migrates over to the same side as their other eye so they can sit flat on the bottom of the sea floor.
Crazy Me - Okay, I've got my bbq fired up - I'm sure Dad could/should spare a small sized piece for me... (oh wait a minute Mr. Postman...)
oh yeah? and what's so simple
about a fish that's almost as big
as your dad?
havent you ever heard the saying,
"never eat anything
larger than your head?"
and Fishmail?
OMG!! i'm so paranoid about
stuff that hasnt been refrigerated
it would mess me up
to receive a piece of fish
in the mail...
(not that i want to take anything away
from your fishy love...)
and yes, i understand about
the dry ice, kind of...
Lisa, you would not care for my other fav, hardfiskur, which in fact is dried fish. Yum. Yumm yummm now I'm hungry. I think it must be sushi for lunch for me today. Once that craving begins, there is no other way to make it leave than by satisfying it...
Smaller than your head? Good heavens, baby bites, understand? One bite at a time.
HAHAHA. sorry, but in my head, the caption that goes with this picture is a line from the movie Napoleon Dynamite: I caught you a delicious bass. of course, if you've never seen it, that won't be funny at all, but in my head it's hilarious!
that's a gorgeous catch, and a mighty fine lookin' fisherman! hope his day was as grand as that fish he caught, and that this picture wasn't snapped for the halibut. (and, yes, i believe i WOULD have made that stupid pun, with or without Doug's prompt, because i'm just that lame) ; )
wow what a cool pic, the water looks so beautiful and the fisherman*dad* looks pretty content.
tc
That's a hal of a fish Dad! Great picture. That's going to make a nice dinner!
That is SOME fish!!
How fun it must have been to catch...
and eat.
