Interesting juxtaposition. Here you have the old wall with the modern electrical wires in the background. But Roachz of http://rambling_chicken.blogspot.com - a student in Japan had an ultra modern building with electrical wires going to it and the wires looked old fashioned. Things are relative, I guess.
I'm not too sure old waldy would approve of a beautiful stone wall and a electrical tower and wires standing side by side, lol but it is a powerful thought. tc
Tom and Icy - I found that tangle of ugly wires to be a funny and stark contrast to the super modern building in the photos. Everything is connected.
Crazy Me - (throws roses - bravo on your performances). I love the walls too. This one was just lining the city, in the middle of modern living. I love stones. and bricks.
TLP: Ravenna was a beautiful place filled with ancient intricate mosaics, stone and brick churches, mausoleums and arches. Emerson called it right.
TC: The old wall endures the encroaching inevitable trappings of the modern world rather well. I think Emerson got it. :)
annonymous - It's so simple!
Vikingisson: or "huldufolk," or hidden people... Funny, I've never heard of an Italian Troll- I never glimpsed one when I was in Italy.

I love old walls like that. I'm not sure why but I always have.
Excellent picture. Excellent quote.

The past and the present makes here and now :)
An old wall like that in Niceland would surly be inhabited by a troll. What's the Italian troll?

It is what we are, deep inside us...every day we depend on something we learned yesterday, trying to frame it new for our tomorrow.
I think the old is what give us and everything else character. New is just too...well, you know, new.
Except for us right? lol
Just what Icy said.
