Last night the first real storm of Fall swept through, blowing the colored leaves to the ground , washing the dust off the world. The morning dawned clear and clean, trees drenched and dripping sunlit sparkles. I'm always imagining I'll be so sad when summer ends, but somehow, when the season truly changes clothes, I find myself embracing it wholeheartedly.

Picture perfect photograph, Terry, you've captured the absolute beauty of this seasonal tree.

I love the perspective of the image along with your description of season magnificence! You have cooled me down in the heat at my place ;)

We do need to accept what is and enjoy the seasons as they come.

What a nice tree! For me, it´s really boring to have the same season around the year.

I understand that feeling exactly. I feel a bit bittersweet starting the end of August but by September into October, I'm ready for the change.

I think Mother Nature knows what she's doing.

Yeah the trees will be naked again soon, but have no fear because Spring is around the corner. Quite a long corner but it's there some where :-P

Lovely photo and sentiment...I love fall.

Love the photo!! I always love to be able to throw on a big fuzzy sweater. It's a little easier to warm up than to try and find a way to cool off when it's sweltering outside.

;o)

Crabby - stuck in the house with two guys? How do you do it? And I bet that included a bunch of giant drunk ants... you go girl!

Lime - There isn't much anyone can find a fault in with a stately, lichen covered tree... they are so beautiful all year round. Nature's art.

Autumn - they are seasonal trees. I'm guessing this one is a maple - beautiful at all times of the year, with leaves or without.

Actonbell - I bet you see your share of gorgeous trees in screaming colors where you live - we do have lots in California, but not on the same grand scale as back east.

Annonymous - hey, exactly... the yin and yang of seasons. Spring for you, Fall for us. I love it that we both have different seasons, real time! Fascinating.

Tom and Icy - You always speak with such wisdom.

SOe - But in Iceland you don't have the same season... not even in the passing of one day! The weather changes from one minute to the next :)

G - Mother Nature rarely makes mistakes. In fact, does she?

Kingcover - ha ha - yep, that is one long corner. I'm not mooning for Spring - the Fall is just getting started. And there is still the turkey to eat.

Tai - Thanks :) Are the trees in Victoria bare yet?

Jillie - you skinny gals always look so great in a fuzzy sweater :) And true, it is easier to get warmed up than to cool down. Funny, I used to like the hot weather best, but since entering the hotflash zone, that is all changed!

JJ - I got the picture here under wunder photos. I'm a sucker for pretty pictures. I could just look at them all day. I suppose I should invest in a good camera - my digital bit the dust after my 'trip home from work' post, so I'm dying with no way to capture things. waaahhhhhhh

fall's my favorite season, and your photo reminds me of some of the ones I took last weekend of the trees in my 'hood.

except I found more than just trees when I looked up in a few places

Wow. Just wow. What a great picture.

I just love the fall. And winter. And spring. And summer. I love it all.

variety is the spice of life! And the one of the best lessons you can learn in life is to embrace change for that is the only constant and that is one of the best teachers of life! Besides from your picture it dsnt seem like anything to complain about..beautiful

You are a terrific photographer, Terry. I wish I lived far enough North for scenes like that. Or to have trees, anyway. Trees would be nice.

What a beautiful picture!! Autumn does that have clean/fresh feeling to me too. Like you could finally open your eyes because the Sun is not shining right into them anymore.

I wish a storm would come through here- wash away the pollen, dust, and significant drought we're in!

A fabulous image, Terry & great text. Backlighting for red leaves is the best way to shoot them, but we always get that feeling that it's nearly over for another year.
The pic makes me want to seek out one or two that I shot the same way 3 years ago...

E - Thanks for the links. The tree looks like some kind of pepper - with it's lovely red berries and bright colors.

Is that a buddy of yours... perhaps one of the "wild cats of Iceland" haunting the tree??

TLP - I'm with you... why just have one favorite season? :) They all have merit.

xvil:Embracing change was one of the more difficult lessons I've had to learn - *sigh* I'm SUCH the creature of habit. Change is good - it helps one not become stale, stuffy, boring....one can learn much from Mother Nature.

Doug *(hangs head shame-facedly) not my piccie. But I am most admiring of the annonymous photographer *(see answer to Lisa much earlier) where I gave credit due. I coulda, woulda, shoulda you know... Speaking of scenes, I came across Lela running around in the dry white mountains... stunning. I can imagine a campfire crackling with dry tinder, filling the cold air with delicious smoky essence... Where was Willie? It is fine without trees.

Anne - so kind of you to minister to Sal and her family. Thank you. Your newest photos are incredible - I'm tardy in ordering my cards. I'll get around to it soon, because they are so outstanding. You must be adding more all the time!

Ariel - I am wondering if all those lovely and deep green forests of yours are turning autumnal colors... or are they evergreen? I will see them in person, some day soon, I promise.

ebezp - Awe, thanks Simon. You are sweet.

Nessa - Fall is my favorite too, even though as Summer sweats itself through, I usually insist that IT is my favorite season... I'm such a fickle gal...

Thanks Kesh - and I hope your Spring is going beautifully :) Send me some fall pics when the season flips :)

Neva - hugs! Hope you are 1) getting some sleep, 2) not worrying about kiddo No. 2, 3)spending even a miniscule amount of time with Joel, and 4) smiling in spite of life's little tantrums :)

Hey A - you getting much more than too much rain, or too much drought down thar in the lowlands? :)

weatherchazer - Awe - I hope you get a storm of amazing noise, volume, lightning and thunder, wind and rain.. all the dramatic stuff that makes storms so fabulous... and, I hope you get enough rain to wash away the dust and pollen. You deserve a break today.

Ah Stew - so glad to be here when you come up for air. Fall allows for the best pictures, with scarlet hues and crisp smokey scents of the season...would love to see your pictures.
