Hope your re-entry
to the work week
is flowing smoothly,
as this pahoi hoi
once did.

Was it ever a re-entry! Two weeks later and I feel like I never left!

I wish I had never come back....

My first day was half horror, half boredom. What is with yours? Grabbed work with both hands? :-)

I googled pahoi hoi, what unbelievable images!

I went to Answers.com for pahoi hoi and they had a link to Terry's Time Out and when I clicked it I was back here again. I thought it might be another food picture, but finally found that it was a lava flow. I feel so smart and educated now.

Weatherchazer - except that all the papers had babies while you were gone...

~gkw - It is a brutish time, coming back after nice time off.

Ariel - well, yes, I did have to use both hands at work. Typing is much easier with two hands, and I resumed my dish washing responsibilities as well... HA! my finger is healing nicely. Too bad about the partial lost sensation, but hey. I still have a finger!

SoCal Sal - somewhere in the world...

Minka - well, I'm a tad surprised at Ms. Lava Woman not knowing what pahoi hoi is, but perhaps the flows you are most familiar with are Ah Ah. Pahoi hoi refers to the type of lava that flows out all slidey and smooth, looking ropey and liquidey. Ah Ah on the other hand, is lava that chunks out in rough, ragged slow cooling thick gobs, and will slice your feet to ribbons when walking on the cooled rock. I would imagine Iceland's flows are mainly Ah Ah.

Tom and Icy: Icy is the smartest and educated dog I know. She teaches me new tricks. I learned about pahoi hoi in my geology class at college.

I spent the day shoveling my driveway and throwing sand and salt on it. I couldn't get any traction with my plow, because it was thick ice under the snow. Wow. That's work, but not the kind of work I thought I'd be doing today.

I wish some lava would flow over my desk and freeze it in time, but not before I escaped! that's kind of how my re-entry went. At least it's over, right?

Well only by the picture did I know that it wasn't a fish. That's mahi mahi I'm thinking of! ;)

By the way, sorry to read that you've lost partial sensation in your finger. You've got a great attitude I must say.

Red Mojo - OOuuuhhhh - that sounds horribly like real manual labor! Ow~ - hence my *shudder* (my sweetie just asked me if I was okay.. ha ha ha when I really did shudder while contemplating such horror) Sorry to hear about your icy labor. Hope you didn't slip!

Hey ECS: What a fabulous idea! Can you imagine the lauds and great attention you would garner with actual lava flowing over your work desk? That would mean you were in a disaster area, relatives would call in worried distress, your place of work would be temporarily destroyed, meaning no place to report to (I'm assuming they would have to pay you anyway) and the added excitement of the natural disaster (Lava in NY - can you even imagine such an amazing event????) I'm so there!

Mahi Mahi - yummmm! Do you even get such a delicacy around them thar parts? Speaking of parts, thanks hon for your kind words. Sincerely, although I've lost some sensation, I know how awful I would imagine it to be to lose my entire digit. I've spent many moments actually secretly apologizing to my left ring finger, for robbing it of it's feeling by senselously grabbing for a falling knife... sheer idiocy it was.

Love this shot. Very artsy and the color tones are so earthy. It makes a great abstract.
