Ariel - yes we were extremely out of breath after repeatedly climbing those stairs... but we were getting in shape! We didn't run, that's for sure!!
Granny - LOL! I don't do stairs either - except when someone's watching... or expecting me to run up or down... I expect I need to be out of breath once or twice a month in order to remain alive....the staircase was really spectacular (all 15 times we ran up and down it... LOL)
Lone Grey Squirrel: The stairs were just a reality... and although there was a coffee provided, it sure wasn't the appeal of the room LOL!~ the appeal was the wonderful quaint English style decor, but also the amazing staff helpfulness. We were out in the alley with my Sweetie enjoying a night smoke, when the manager came out, saying "the upstairs neighbors were unhappy due to the smoke in the alley - when I saw it was you I said oh, it is you.. all is well" His name was Sid, and we gave him a huge tip LOL.
Cheesemeister - the stares are inded intriguing... but I've never been to the Netherworlds... have patience with me :)
Mo'a - You are the master of comedic thoughts... ha ha ha ha you really cracked me up :) I know how much you just LOVE those metal knee parts... LOL
Red - you know I was so bummed that the steps had those non-slip pads which ruined the clean marble look - but not much to do about it. Those same stairs actually continued for 5 floors above the pictured marble ones - the rest being carpeted and covered all the way up. I would love to have tose stairs but California laws dictate that stairs have more face for shoes. Boo hoo.
Tom & Icy - I've seen super Icy flying... in a wonderful way you 've got it down pat.
Doug - You are only talking smack because you're jealous...
Socal Sal - yes - I've heard that one before... ha ha I'd say you are dating yourself. When I was traveling in Ravenna last summer - we actually saw an ancient mural on the wall depicting Rapunzel and her hair, letting down out of a lone castle tower... well done sir Salacious.
Nessa - Sorry about that. I didn't get nauseous the entire time - including countless times up and down that staircase... we were on the 4th floor.
Jeanne - the picture looking upward didn't come out as dramatically as looking back down... I have always wanted a rock spiral staircase of my very own. *sigh* Nothing cooking in the kitchen lately but fish - I'm on a diet. Fruit soup is LONG GONE. yummm.
Ariel - SoCal Sal is always funny :)
Anonymous - I'm with you - caw caw
Photowannabe - you know I felt a bit dizzy as I turned to take that picture LOL.
Keshi - next time you are in San Francisco - come on up inside the King George Hotel.

All is dizzy when they finally enter your room, eh? :-)
i don't do stairs...but if i did.those would be the ones..lovely picture..
What is a flight of stairs between friends....besides, it is a pretty flight of stairs....good for stopping and having coffee breaks on.
That looks kind of like the stairs leading to the torture room in the Netherworld Hotel.
These stairs look doable now that I am a Bionic Woman ;)
Those are pretty, I'm not crazy about the grippy pads, but otherwise, lovely.
Oh my legs. Ain't fair. You can fly.
Isn't it just like a crow to install a spiral staircase?
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!
Oooo, your making me nautious.
I REALLY like that picture. Does invite me down, though, not up. Have you been cooking something good in the kitchen?
LOL Socal!
