Here it is
Serenity

Up in the San Juan Islands

In a beautiful detached part of Washington State

We got up much earlier than usual... (hell, we had been getting up at 8am - that is far from early) in order to depart on the ferry

and we saw

an amazing sight

What was it?

We determined it to be

a rainbow

only straight up

into the morning sky

With no downward arc

My camera has no close-up lense

so no amazing views were captured

Nontheless

It was amazing,

beautiful.

A reward for getting up earlier

than we were used to...

Got up early at 8am LOL! The photos are beautiful. Yeah, it looks a brand new world when you are up at times you are not up usually. Miracle, really.

The magnetic field of our planet is getting ready to switch north and south. Those rainbows just aren't as flexible as they used to be.

Ariel the Thief - I'm going to seriously have to change my ways... this sleeping in is way out of control.

Tom & Icy - I knew you would have the right explanation - you always do.

Doug - Who let the wiseguy in here with the smartalecky answers? I thought he was on vacation...

Javajazz - The straight up rainbow reminds me of the
Mountain Quail which has a funny exclamation point on the top of his head... The pot of gold was the thrill I got looking at it ;)

Ariel - When Tom speaks, people listen...

Nessa - Thanks hon. It was truly stunning to behold.

Yellowdog Granny - We want to move up there so we can see it all the time - instead of just having pictures to remember it. *sigh*

Anonymous - Oh please take me with you xxoo

Lone Grey Squirrel - yes, but your picture topped it: remember the little house on the rock island off the Westmann Islands of Southern Iceland?

Sister Celtic - oooouuuuuu How cool would that be???? WOW! If they printed it, and then my Aunt & Uncle saw it I would be famous! (Never been published before) But wait: there's more! ;)

That just looks so amazing - the colours are beautiful and just so peaceful to.

Beautiful.
The amount of a rainbow's arc that you see depends partly on the angle of the sun in the sky. So I bet the early hour was responsible for the partial rainbow.

Visit by kayak, a wonderful treat-adventure.
