WELCOME INTO THE WORLD LITTLE BOY!
JOY JOY JOY - LET ME PRESENT Jayden Mark Savage, who in keeping the family tradition of his father (my son Joe being born on Easter), was born on today at 1:44 pm on Valentine's Day. I was getting a little grumpy because none of the other family members who were there called me with updates other than once in the past 24 hours... - and I worried myself silly not knowing what was happening so very far away. I have only received this picture via my cell phone - haven't even spoken to anyone yet... sheesh. But all is well - I'll hear the gory details later - for now it is enough to know that the boy is here, Mom and Dad survived the ordeal as well, and Happy Valentines Day! Isn't life such a fabulous miracle?

BIRTH

"The first and direst of all disasters."

~Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary

I don't necessarily agree in part or at all with Ambrose's definition.

As I write this, my Son Joe and his sweet Wife Elli are having their first baby. They are at the hospital in Reno, NV - a mere 2315 miles away from me as I pace the floor out here in Florida. Will little Jayden Mark Savage be born on Valentine's Day? Or will he pop out tonight... nobody knows. (He wasn't due until Feb 26th). So who's sleeping tonight anyway? :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE: FEBRUARY 14, 5:30am EST. No word, no word, no word. I'm going nuts. It is only a few hours into the new day in Reno, but surely it seems like forever. No news is good news, right? A small Valentine is surely on its way.
Best of luck to them, of course! I think Ambrose was talking about his concept of how his own life had gone. As far as my life, I'd have to agree that my birth was also the first and direst of all disasters in a rather disastrous existense. But it surely doesn't mean that it's so for everybody!
Myself, my first and direst of all disasters occurred at 6 am the day after valentine's day. Which may explain why I am such a curmudgeon. I missed being a sweetheart by six hours and one minute.
You guys are all so great for leaving such great comments - thanks for all the support and good wishes. I'm still in heaven - it will only be topped at the moment I get to see my son and his wife holding their new boy - it will become real at last for me. Then you will have to pry Jayden out of my arms... Really - thanks each and every one of you.
CONGRATULATIONS to you all on the birth of such a little sweety. What a perfect day to be born on. :-)
Hey, and even stranger... this Valentine was a truly special day.
Here's the basics (I got in an email):
"Let me share with you all an astrological configuration that heralds in a new age. Late in the 1960's, two highly enlightened songwriters channeled through a message of hope and guidance for those of us who would hear the words. James Rado and Gerome Ragni wrote the famous song entitled, The Age of Aquarius.
These words:
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
This year the exact alignment spoken of nearly 40 years ago will occur.
To make this even more significant it occurs on February 14, 2009, Valentines Day, at 7:25am (GMT). For those of us on the Pacific Coast, that is 11:20pm the night before (February 13th).
The alignment will last for approximately 18 minutes so make a commitment to join with people from all over the world at this time and pray that our leaders of all nations are guided by love and peace and we as citizens of the world come together to support the changes of this new era. It starts with us."
How cool is that for a birth day? :-)
