I am so ready for a change. Need to just up and leave for Iceland I think - my Love and I could make it working in a fish factory... just give me the thick gloves so that the ice and salt doesn't hurt my hands. Get me away from this corporate bologna, that just keeps me jumping through fear hoops at work... waiting for the ax to fall upon my neck, and the boot to kick me out the door... My headache was so big today I ate 6 asprin at lunch (2 before, 4 after lunch). No wonder my tummy hurts. I just long for a job where your efforts really count - and all this other false, nitpicking, frivolous crap that is spouted by the boys who consider themselves the elite - above all the other peons who make up the workers in the bullpen (and the dishwasher - yes, I do the company dishes each and every day before I can go home because unbelievably some of these MEN don't believe in washing up after themselves. It is actually written up in my job description.) I could live I think, in the beauty of simple land and sea - sky and horizon... with my Love.

well than get on over here, they just rised the pay for people working in fish factories. Your timing couldn´t be better and you already know people here ;)
Terry, I couldn´t find an e-mail in your profile, there is one in mine...I need to get in contact with you :)
??office cleaning service won't do the dishes??they must be real slobs, they need paper plates and cups, and a mother to wipe their chins when done eating.hope today is a better day for you!
Morning early bird Minka - nice to hear "first" from you as usual :-D
My email is now in my profile - you know I won't be able to visit with you, L and the Dawg, as I have out of town visitors coming in here in Walnut Creek. Rats! Was hoping to join you all.
Annon - got to watch my comments now... they will be monitoring my blog if I ever go there on work equipment... which going forward I won't.. but they still know about my blog :-(
so nicey nicey
I must be
so they won't
get rid of me....
If you go to Iceland to escape you must go into the country...stay away from the cities they have the same issues as here. How is that for a wet blancket?
They beauty of Iceland would, however, sooth the soul.
Is that Arnarstapi? If it is then that was my Uncles farm :)
oh terry, that is awful. want to come work at my company? it rocks!! It really does and my post today says it all. I love this place and i loved it before the good stuff happened. I hope that it gets better for you or you find something better or you get to move to Iceland and see Minka. hang in there the sun will shine on you soon.
Now you have my total solidarity. I said a wholesome, honest "No thanks" to that ethos, if it is one, almost at the start of my working life. I've done it my own way ever since and the human rewards - if not the pecuniary and the other so-called benefits - and real enrichment could never have been found if I'd stuck with THEIR way. Think it out for real & seriously Terry. Everything's possible. You can make it happen, if you're prepared to face and embrace all the changes it would imply. You've got your love, if he wants the same then just plan well, get out & do what you really want! Go, Girl!!!
You know I made a sign and posted it that said
"IF YOUR MOTHER DOES NOT WORK HERE, THEN YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN MESSES"
I thought for sure they were going to have a cow about it but it worked!
Oh Terry that sounds like a wonderful escape...serenity now!
Job descriptions- Guess what is tacked on the end of mine: "and other duties as assigned by the director and supervisors". That is why I fulfill five postions for the pay of one. God I'm a dipshit!
Poor you. I haven't worked for assholes for years. The best thing with my job is that there's no boss there. But I'm all for an escape anyway, somewhere where the only thing that limits my plans is my own energy.
sending hugs!
xo
Mo'a - wow, you have places (and relatives all over Iceland in your family! Yes, it is Arnarstapi. SO beautiful a spot.
That is why I wanted a fish factory job... LOL nothing to complain about there but the scales on your hands.. :-)
Jodes - I'm envious! I would love to get up each day and not start out with fear and loathing... oops, wrong movie... without worrying about frivolous office politics - of which I am a horrible player. Sigh - I don't know what that kind of dream job would be. (how about NO job ;-D)
Icarus - You made me learn a new word today... pecuniary. You hit the nail on the head. I've been hearing a lot lately about just envisioning what I really want to do, - and then doing it. Thank you for the wonderful encouragement - coming from you it means a lot. I see you as an example of making things work in spite of impossible circumstances.
Jillie - HA HA - I've already thought of that... but would be accused of insubordination, and of course not fulfilling my jobly duties (jobly - I think that is a new word :-D) I work in an office of 10 men and one other woman (we are awash in a sea of testosterone and awful cologne on a daily basis)and the popular vote is in their court.
Weatherchazer - that is a horrible catch-all phrase which seals your doom of having to do any and every other little thing at the whim of others. Condolences...
Jeanne - or the pull of a muscle..
:-) T'would be nice though, not to have 3 bosses breathing down your neck at your every move. I covet that freedom.
JJ - HI!Hi ho hi ho, it's back to work I go.
i'm not gonna ask which one of
the dwarfs you are...
maybe the 8th one...Harley.
Terry, sounds like you have just about reached your limits and this can be a good thing and a very good thing. Sometimes we need that to do what we should have done a long time ago or that we really want to do but various reasons stop us from taking that leap.
Hugs to you, hope Thursday is a happier, painfree, nuisance-free day, x
If you are serious,Iceland can happen,or anywhere else for that matter-But are you serious ??????????or just learn to enjoy the stress of it all,not a great way to die-But dead with money in the pocket. As autumn says, wish you a better tomorrow-happier and painfree.
morning - thanks for all of your words of wisdom yesterday, thankfully my company is not like that - we have an employee morale committee and i am a member, there is a written rule in the handbook that you MUST clean up your own messes in the kitchen, we also have a wonderful lady come in every morning to tidy things up, she is wonderful. i do not think I am naieve(SP), I have been in the corporate world for a long time. I have seen it all.
jj - feeling rather like Dumpy at the moment.
Autumn - thank you for your words of wisdom. You are right on as usual.
annon - you of all ought to know if I'm serious. It is the fitting of the pieces that is the stumbling block.
Jodes - count your blessings. I should be counting mine instead of griping so much. Chin up (she tells herself)
This is a good time for comeing to Iceland. The Darkness is gone. The sun shines longer each day. Be welcome at Iceland!
There are so many people like us whose souls and spirits long to be in tune with the earth.
So much of what we are faced with on a daily basis knocks us off center and wears our spirits down.
I symphathize with you Terry and the crap you are having to put up with.
I wish peace to your spirit.
