Here is the most amazing bar of black sand, below the Icelandic waterfall Dettifoss: The water volume from this waterfall is the largest in all of Europe. The quiet, yet stunning scene downstream is the one I remember, after witnessing the tons ofwater pouring over the falls above.
Man, I am in love with Iceland all over again. I have a 4-hour layover on my trip to Italy later this month... boo hoo - only enough to get off the plane, buy some Brennivin and hardfiskar... then jump back on to Milan... boo hoo. Not how I had hoped at all.

Those Pictures are breathtaking Beautiful. So much beauty in Nature & so much to feast the eyes upon on your blog!
I missed commenting on a dog post, which is entirely unacceptable. So....
What a nice looking fellow. I'm just hoping the St. Bernard was the mom. Though perhaps that's unlikely. Australien shepards aren't big dogs. We've got one right next door.
Boy,the crowds that day...sweet memories :-)
ooooh....
water
falls
A dream vacation would be to visit Iceland for at least a week! Sigh! It's beautiful and amazing. These are great pictures, can almost hear the sound of that waterfall.
I wanna go to Iceland too!
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!):

As always when you post these gorgeous photos of Iceland and speak with such longing, it makes me want to visit myself.
Terry, I've been looking at the schedules and in light of the fact that we have just lost two staff and there are already holidays booked by others (months in advance) for the beginning of June, it doesn't seem very likely that I will be able to get any time off. Dinner in Florence sounded so exotic too. Another time.
Hiya...I have come to you thru Jillie, thru EBEZP...because I was tagged...Oh, yes! AND, I believe I saw a comment from YOU that-HAHA, you were NOT tagged. Well...(coff-coff) heads up...by the end of Sunday night, you will be tagged by ME!

Waterfalls are wonders, every one.
I would love to go there one day. I'm sure you know why Iceland and Greenland got their names.
Spec-TAC-ular!!
Can I have your onward ticket to Italy, if you don't want it, please? I need it badly!
Those are spectacular pictures. I too would love to go there one day...
Someday maybe...
The days are counting down!!!

I am always held in awe by the beauty of your pics. Hope your trip is a good one.
Don't boohoo away in my presence, NO BOOHOOS! Oh to be Icelandic and never have set foot on Iceland! *sniff, sniff*
See? Now you can say hello to the land from me! (Like you didn't have a purpose before! Oy! Bohemians are annoying this way I am afraid!)
Have a faboo trip sweet friend and yep, I am back! WOOH!
Besos!
(sigh...I am tagging you for fun! To learn someone new, but I will give you the same 'out' I gave the others...if you like totally don't want to do it...email me

Mona - Wecome and thank you for the kind words. Beauty? Well, depends upon when you come by... :-D
Jeanne - I remember your pup - pretty white fur. Tobin is a pretty big guy - I beleive the mother was the St. Bernard. *whew*! I love his coloring, and though he has many neurotic tendencies, he has a big heart.
Annonymous...oh yes... the crowds of 2 people.. ha ha. Seems like most folks don't want to make the effort to take the journey (and suffer the flat tires.. broken cars, etc.) to see the sights way out in the middle of The Land.
Lisa - that waterfall would blow you away... so much water... so much thunder... lots of rocks and more cliffs and rocks.. absolutely fabulous.
Oliviah - ha ha - you CAN almost hear it - it is so very loud! I pray that you will one day have the glorious experience of seeing it or one like it with your own eyes. :-)
TC - Come on - cram in with the rest of em... quite a few packed into my backpack. Curl up like a good kitty...
Autumn - yes, hopefully another time. sigh.
~d - (I have always loved to use that ~ symbol... what is it called?) *sigh... Well, I supposed it happens to the best of us. Welcome to you ~d, and *another heavy sigh* I will rise to the occasion of the TAG :-}
Doug - Speaking the truth eloquently, as always. Yes, waterfalls are wonderous.
Toby - (still gotta love that icon of yours) Yes, when I flew over Greenland's snowy and iced over mountains, I again saw first hand that is isn't terribly green at all. The name Greenland (Grønland) has its roots in this colonization and is widely attributed to Erik the Red (the Inuit call it Kalaallit Nunaat, "Our Land"), and there has been speculation on its meaning. Some have argued that the coasts in question were literally green at the time due to the medieval climate optimum, in as much as the Viking settlers practised some form of an agrarian economy. Others have suspected that the name was in part a promotional effort to lure people into settling there by making it sound more attractive. The condition of Greenland in the 10th century may have been more hospitable than today.
About 81 percent of its surface is covered by ice, known as the Greenlandic ice cap
Iceland, on the other hand is green during the summer and fall, and although not a lush land, has it's own flora and fauna.
Icarus - well, I would if I could :-D I'll look at the sights for you with eyes of a man in Portugal...(is that possible?) Your camera would excel in Italy I know.
Jillie - one country at a time I suppose... sigh. Iceland continues to pull me back just by thinking about it. You are almost off on your journey across the pond. Go baby!
pc hilfe - Thank you so much for stopping by! I love your site - as you can see I gained from it.
:P Fuzzbox - you are still around! How's things in that great big state? It's funny, but you can't go wrong posting pictures of Iceland - they are beautiful no matter what it is.
MizBohemia - Oh my dear, how sad you must be to have not set a foot in Iceland! Are you Icelandic? You look Spanish :-D Sound like it too. I was looking at a tv program this morning, and it was of Madrid. I was looking around to see if I could see you, your lovely children and Loverboy. How are you surviving these days? HUGs - so good to hear from you again!
~d = I don't need an out :-D just a bit of time. Very interesting information will follow, you will see. :-D
Well, you can see for yourself how we are doing in my new post! I am back! :-)
And yes, I am Iranian/Danish/Icelandic... my look is predominantly Middle Easter (especially when it comes to my coloring), but my softer featurs and petiteness comes from my Scandinavian side... I have quite a bit off family in Denmark and Iceland too...
And you are very sweet but you will not find me in Madrid, for alas, I am still stuck where I normally reside and that being in the south, in Málaga.
Hope your trip goes well! Besos!
Oy! Too many damn typos! And believe me, I should imitate a Spaniard speaking English someday so that you can see that my accent, when speaking English, ain't Spanish (though what the hell it is beats me!)... but I do have a Spanish accent when I speak Spanish. Ironically, it is the only language I speak where I don't have a foreign accent!
We just can't get over how really beautiful those pictures are!
although i'm not from Iceland ;), when i visited this place my heart jumped! its really breathtaking and the views you brought to us only make me want to remember how badly i wanted to have jumped in the water.
incredible!

Really - do you truly understand how you make us all live vicariously through those silly videos? I re-lived all my children's birthday parties... HA HA HA torture not worth bring up now... and um, well, um... you know, Spanish Parks, and um... well, Spanish cultural gatherings... you know, all that stuff! Truly I love your blog and I hope you "Keep Coming BACK".
Icy - you would look so beautiful in Iceland...at least you would blend right in in winter...
sd: I'm honored by your visit. Hope you come again. You are extremely talented, and I wait your next offering.
