This Easter weekend, with a certain reknown Beagle sporting a Chicago accent... we were introduced to a divine, completely honest hotdog known as the Chicago Hotdog. It was unlike any I've had before, and I am quite the hotdog connesiour. This delicious indulgence consisted of a hotdog surrounded with a soft poppyseed bun, with the works: tomato, green sweet relish, chopped raw white onion, a lovely long dill pickle quarter, mustard, and 3 long hot peppers... this hotdog is closely tied for second place, along with my beloved Dodger Dog, after my first choice of the Icelandic Pylsur (a lamb hotdog I've sung the virtue of many times before...)

Thank you Doug

for all of your great attentions this weekend - you were the perfect blogger
convention host :) and I sincerely hope we didn't wear you out too terribly...

More later. Bear is snoring. Safe travels.

Terry...Hurray you are home. I just wrote a comment and I thing your blog ate it. All that talk of hot dogs made it hungry. I have missed you being online. I hope you had a good time.

We had leg of lamb tonight. Lots of garlic stuffed in it and dredged in flour and spices..."Mom" style. Yummy.

I hope this posts this time. :)

Welcome back home! Have you left the pneumonia in Chicago?

The first photo makes me drooling. And all your beautiful words about onion, mustard, pepper... the second photo makes me chuckle crazy.

For a moment there I thought you were stepping out on our beloved Baearins Bestu...it is good to hear that the Icelandic hot dog is still the best.
I wish I could have been in Chicago with our blog friends. Will we hear more about it from you?

Yes, yes! We are all dying to hear more about your fabulous blogger weekend, including snow, companions, food delicacies (you must have eaten more than just Chicago hot dogs even though they were so delicious!)......What's "to die for" in Chicago, and what should we be sure to avoid at all costs?

Boy that looks good enough to eat, once you take the hot dog out!

P.S. Did you take that scrumptious looking hotdog photo with your new camera? :D

Oh Yeah I can't believe you never had one.. Remember cupids on Ventura Blvd. they do the great thin fries and peppers on it plus everything... you had to order the dill pickle seperate for a Chicago hot dog.. Need I say more...Cupids where are you I never liked Derweinershitzel at all compared. Now Doger dogs yeah they are bass ass good!

who tried to spell above criky Dodger dogs...also I think Cupids did do the dill pickle thing now that I think back.. Glad your back!

Hey Sal - I'm not home yet, and have wrestled with my computer for hours trying to sign on in this delicious Chicago hotel... grrrrr. Called the tech and spent time on the phone after trying vainly for a few hours to fix the connectivity problem myself... The lamb sounds fabulous... G and I ate the first vegetarian dinner on Easter Sunday I think I've ever had. It was scrumptious, and our thoughtful & gracious hosts were kindly friends of our Beagle host Doug...

Ariel - ha ha - Doug does know the goodness of a grand Chicago hotdog with all the trimmings. He introduced us to the fabulous treat. Alas, the pesky pneumonia hasn't evaporated even though I've faithfully swallowed all my horsepills, but then I ain't no spring chicken any more.

Mo'a - No worries - the Icelandic hotdog has too far go in order to be topped in competition... but alas I must tell you that we went straight to Hafnarfjordur for all of our pylsur needs, because they alone at the Pylsubarinn sell the best dogs on the planet. Sorry you didn't join us... at some point I will post a pic or two of our exciting trip. My photos are unable to download here as I don't have the software downloaded (:() to this laptop.

Kelly, Snow... companions... food... heck snow you know about, (yes, lots of snow and ice, freezing, cutting winds, companions (well, that one is a little more obscure), food - well, we loved our Chicago dogs as well as our "Hamborger Hamborger, Hamborger"..., of which I'll detail later. What not to do here? DON'T FORGET YOUR COAT, HAT, AND MUFFLER... it is COLD here! More to come, don't worry :)

Red Mojo - Man Alive - we had a fabulous meal, and yes, it was excellent - I think even without the dog you would have been so pleased! The peppers were a bit hot - in fact I ate only two and a half out of the three... but oh man, were they great!

Kelly - Alas I had to look for the most closely accurate picture I could find, because I ate up my hotdog without a pause - oh guilty oinky me... it was so mouth-waterlingly delicious I didn't take a picture. :(

JJ - I have no doubt you would have fit in just fine - in fact your name came up a few times... :) Missed your wit - missed you! Now the Dawg has fled, and tomorrow we do the same. He is a cute one - you would agree. He is a xenophobic as well as you.

a xenophobic!
(do you think its a good idea
to talk about his sexual preferences
in front of everyone?)
oh, wait, uh.....

JJ, I'm blushing now.

Sister Celtic: ha ha, I do remember Cupid's on Ventura Blvd, but only in passing. I never stopped there. I did on occasion eat at the Derweinerschnitzel though - it's the dang dogs. I'm addicted to all types of them.

Actually, I'm not really back - but tomorrow afternoon I shall be. Boo hoo - coming home is always the most melancholy part of any trip for me...

JJ, I'm blushing, too. I can report the crow and bear are just the kinds of companions to make the social phobic enjoy the company.

Correction Correction I like to pride myself giggle on my memory and I called the Hot Dog place on Ventura Cupids... yeah yeah it was FLOOKY'S Hot Dogs that I meant to say. Not Cupids... Flooky's Rules the Mother Load of Hot Dogs Oh I hope you remember Flooky's it was a little small "orange" shack of a joint... yummmmmmmmmmmmmm
