What's on your grill this weekend?
I'm roasting pylsur (Icelandic lamb hotdogs) complete with all the trimmings - Remoladi - Bragdgott og Friskandi (a mayo & relish type combo), Pylsusinnep (mustard without the sting) and Rostad lok (crisp fried onion).

JD: - Well, I'll let you call it pork if you want - that would be equally delicious! Those fine young lambs we bbq'ed at the annual Icelandic family reunion were divine and make my mouth to this day looking at it. What do Arkansaians bbq on Memorial Day weekend?
Ariel - are you on hiatus from meat - or truly not an indulger of such fleshy delights? I've been on a diet lately of vegetarian foods - not bad. Today when I ate my pylsur (a day early, we couldn't wait) I felt almost... well, like a barbarian eating meat.
Will D - The lamb hotdogs we ate last night and today were extra specially good due to the funny sounding condiments we had with them :) The lambs being bbq'ed in that photo were completely divine and consumed that day with great gusto by the large family gathering.
Lime - What goodness did you cook up this holiday weekend? Better go look I suppose.
Javajazz: How did I know you were going to say that? (I don't feel guilty - I must say I enjoyed every single bite. baaaaaahh bahhhhh.
Anonymous - I wish it was really true that we could get whisked away back to Iceland simply by consuming a bite of that pure lamb... ahhhh.xxoo
Doug - It was a grand start indeed. And the weekend has not yet ended! We had a nice bbq'd hamburger tonight with friends... more to come manana.
Actonbell - huh huh - good word "paws"... tee hee. I used to have a certain squeamishness at looking at a whole carcass laying out on the table... but I got over it. I'm a survivor.

i remember when sarah was
way younger and she said
so innocently one day
when she made the connection,
"you mean a chicken is meat?"
she was kind of surprised.
ps we're all meat eaters here...
and yes, i am often found
deeply inhaling the smell
of my neighbour's barbeque...
that and coffee are 2 of my
favourite scents...
oh, and lily of the valley...
and lilacs,
and newborns,
and cedar...
and sweetgrass,
sage,
earth...
etc...
No diet, I just like banana. It is great with barbecue, too. :-)
That pic has my mouth watering. And that menu you have there sounds awesome.
I told Hunter that bacon came from pigs.... he was horrified because he likes bacon but had a bit of trouble with the transition. He only recently started eating bacon again.
The smell of roasted lamb filling the house reminds me of my Mom's house, as I walked up the driveway after school... yum. I also just love the smell of freshly baking bread - heavenly. I agree with all of the scents you like - thanks for the 'ahhhhhhs' ;)
(burying my face in the newly opened coffee beans bag just brings tears to my eyes....)
Ariel the Thief: I like bananas very much. My Sweetie bought me a glass one. He made some fun of it... you know the joke... is that a banana in your pocket or are you just glad to see me... ha ha ha ha.
:P fuzzbox - man alive, that lamb made my mouth water too. It was to die for, and I ate as much of it as I could without becoming sick. The menu WAS AWESOME - (remember I'm part Texan with bbq tendencies... :)
