Summer is beautiful, except for the excess heat. But when it's too cold, we-un's bitch about it too!
In many ways autumn is my favorite season. This may sound odd, but I tend to get depressed in the spring. Where other people have trouble with SAD in the late fall, I seem to have reverse SAD. Heh...always doing things ass backwards, me.

Summer is sweeter now. When I was young winter was better. Strange how things change with age.

Gorgeous summer photo! Great capture of the very essence.....I can almost smell the sweet hay! Winter will be wonderful as well with fresh snow and crisp clear skies. We'll leave the bitter part out!!! :D

Cheesemeister: I've changed quite a bit since life has evolved... I used to love Summer best but now I seem to be a Fall gal. Perhaps it has something to do with the wilting heat. It is okay to love Autumn - and nice to be in the minority crowd that stands out :D

Lime: I know you must know it more than us Californians... here on the coast we never get snow, very little hail, but lots of frost in our tiny micro-climate of Walnut Creek... my liquid amber trees are turning beautifully. I wonder how I would REALLY do in a snowy winter environment... never having dealt with snow longer than a get-away ski weekend or too.

Doug - I take it you speak from experience (perhaps from the great wilds of Chicago or some similar savage land) I think I can appreciate it now. Happy Birthday to a the pithiest beagle I know.

Tom & Icy - You are the most enjoyable winter companions! I'll bring the cowbells :)

Anne - If you show me beautiful pictures, I'll spout exclamations! Congrats on yet one more masterpiece.

Dr. John - It just goes to show nothing is set in stone, and nothing should be where humans are concerned. I used to swear by Summer - now I'm not so sure but that the heat will slay me. Just like kids' taste-buds change into grown-up preferences, so do our other tastes change with age.

Sweetie - So perfectly composed. How on earth did I luck into such a wonderful, tender poet? xo

Kelly - I never get the fresh snow... not here anyways. Perhaps you can provide some of that when we come up on our Thanksgiving run to Oregon? Blue skies and bare limbed trees...

Actonbell - Ahhh, thanks for providing a glimmer of hope for the future! The end of winter before it begins :D You are the eternal optimist.

Yellowdog Granny - It is a great picture of a splendid summer country scene in the northern bay area of California. A nice place to retreat in mind, on a cold gray day in winter... (all the leaves are brown.... and the sky is gray... I've been for a walk, on a winter's day...

Jeanne - My brilliant writer friend... well done with your Haiku proclaiming the death of a scene into a scene... well done! Still chuckling over it.. so funny!

You can always come out to Wyoming for Thanksgiving. :) We have a light powder of snow dusting the ground right now. :) Although Kelly might not like me stealing you for the holiday.

JJ - How are things on Planet Coffee? Or planet red leaf? Is it time for another snow heart picture? :D xo

Ariel the Thief: Yes, some nice cold season memories (Thanksgivings at the cabin in the deep snow, skiing and tobogganing, frosty, earnipping motorcycle rides to friend's houses...) but I must say I think I have more from the warm seasons... walking on the beach barefoot, playing in the creek with the lush wet scent issuing from the mossy sand, road trips with the windows down, crickets chirping on moonlit horseback rides, hotdogs at the Dodger game, BBQs with friends and family on the back forty... ah, the list goes on.

Sally - We are staying with Kelly the night before Thanksgiving... and visiting Dale & Richard the day after... wish you all were here too. xo
