This post doesn't really need my input. Obviously I'm thinking about dieting night and day - so far since I've been here in Florida I've managed pretty well. Honest. Plus drinking tons of water (which causes embarrassing countless trips to the loo) because I heard somewhere it helps to keep the body flushed out.

I forgot how hard it is to REALLY eat healthily. No in between meal snacks, one glass of wine (not four)... no salt, small portions... you know - healthy! My stomach is growling all the time but I refuse to let it run my life. I want to lose all this excess ~me~ I'm lugging around. It is very hard.

I'm with the last quote, so true. Though the other quotes are correct too, unfortunatly. Beautiful food pics. xo

It is a terrible idea to turn eating into misery and call it diet. Either learn to enjoy what you think is healthy to eat or come up with something else to lose weight. Or keep it. I'll date you anytime, anyway. :)

Funny quotes! I loved the one of Welles the best.

ya, how can you post
all those photos of yummy
and not want to eat
the entire computer??

just eat healthy
and dont make your
stomach growl...
brian just cut out
white flour
and no fried crap
or donuts and stuff,
and he lost
piles of weight
pretty fast...
an older drummer friend
of his told him about it
and it seems to have worked...
you can still make
wonderful meals
and not feel you have
to skimp on stuff...
just cut out the stuff
that is like glue
to your system.
try it just with white flour
gone first...
and obviously
stick to protein and
veggie meals,
possibly no wheat....
and have fun
on your holiday, huh??

Oh Terry stooooooooooooooop...I have to laugh as when I saw the first pic mexican food I was like oh wow that looks good not even realizing where that was taken til I noticed the plate... Talk about focused on the bullseye and nothing else around it. I am howling laughing and I will write down these fabulous quotes my fav being Orsen Wells... I don't know how you spell it but this Acuai Berry pill went on tril free only pay postage and handling 4.99 well I'm at the point for getting started I am going to do it... Waiting for my trial 15 day supply then if it works I'll start in with more and doing what good ol Charlie Shedd taught.

Like Java Jazz says. I lost 22lbs. last year. First, cut back on white/wheat flour, potatoes, pasta. Eat more veggies instead. Second, eat snacks. Or rather, eat the same amount of food but divided up into more meals. You don't get thinner by being hungry- actually, it signals your body to slow down your metabolism because you're starving. Don't cut out fat, either. You need it to metabolize vitamins and to think, which means if you don't have enough your body will signal you to eat more all the time. Also, if you don't get really hungry (which you won't if you eat every three hours) you won't be tempted to eat things like donuts/cakes etc. with lots of fast energy, and you won't suffer at all either. The only hard part is deciding to do it, and you seem to have done that already. I'm too lazy to go for the remaining 25lbs right now. But honestly, it wasn't even unpleasant. And believe me, I've tried every kind of diet there is. Oh, and a half an hour's walk a day, they say, does wonders.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Doug - That is why I admire you so much.

Tom & Icy - Brilliant - that was simply the perfect comment.

DJ Kirkby - Isn't it a blessing we never know the ending ahead of time :)

My dear Ms Thief - You have just said the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. I would be so pleased to be your date. :) Actually, I haven't really deprived myself of any of the foods I love - my problem is always portion control (I need to learn the concept of moderation). I don't enjoy sweets much - just lovely salty things (which drive my blood pressure through the roof).

The Walking Man - Mark, it is not sleep which wrecks me - my insomnia makes sure of that. I'm just in need of more physical activity, and as Ben Franklin said, lessen my meals. It all sounds so easy, doesn't it?

JJ, you know I helped to eat every one of those meals - (homemade chile rellenos at Sister Celtic & Hubbie's, cold steak, potato & cheese sandwiches with cold beer in the Puget Sound home of my Aunt & Uncle's home, fabulous smoked Icelandic lamb with a huge chunk of Brie at our house, and Honey Baked ham at Thanksgiving at our dear friends home in Washington - and freshly hand-shucked Tomales Bay oysters on my own back porch...)

Years ago I lost 56 lbs, doing what your B did... no white flour, no refined white sugar, no pasta, potatos, chips or fries... and MODERATION. I'm still doing the same thing (except for the moderation part) and have been for years but it doesn't seem to work anymore (I partially do blame genetics, lack of exercise as well as "the change"). But I refuse to give up because it killed my mother. It will kill me too if I don't reverse the process.

Lone Grey Squirrel - I always have a huge bag of unsalted peanuts to feed the 7 regulars in my yard... I'm sure they would share :) They are perfectly natural.

Sister Celtic - Your G makes the best Rellenos this side of the border...! ah yes, Charlie Shedd always said it like it is :) Let me know how the Berry magic thing works out will ya? But heck - you are the LAST one who needs to lose weight for crying out loud!

Hey Jeanne - The frustrating part for me is that I already practice most of the things you mentioned.. lots of fresh veggies, little or no potatoes, rice, pasta etc., no white flour or sugar etc. In fact, the only change in my lifestyle in the past 4 years after my husband died (when this weight gain occurred) is this: I met the Bear again after 32 years, introduced alcohol into my diet after 17 years without, and quit exercising. Lots of other small details which I won't bore everyone with, but the weight piled on like it has never done and just won't get off. Hmmm.
Have stepped up the exercise which is definitely helping, and cut down on portions of everything (including cutting out wine and spirits). I think the excess should be practically melting off, but it isn't. Maybe I have a huge basketball sized tumor inside me and that is what's wrong. *sigh* That is a bit far-fetched I know. Congrats on your own triumphant loss of weight - I'm pleased for you! Must have been all of those pressed apples, Grandma's dills and large vegetables from your garden.

Nessa - Great minds think alike :)
